Guest Stryke69 Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Hey guys, atm I'm waiting for the Blade to arrive, when that's done, I want to use it with two sim cards. So I would like to know if any of you is already using a dual sim card in the ZTE Blade? (If so, which one?) Do you know any good (and cheap) ones? Thanks from Germany
Guest MrNike Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 I would like to hear any experiences too. Thx. Greetings, MrNike
Guest Stryke69 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Just as an short update: I've did a huge research about dual sim cards as there are many things you have consider. Last week i ordered one and it should arrive this week. I will give a short review when i've tested it. It will be a ANALOG dual sim card where you have to cut the two cards out. Analog because this is the best and cheapest way to make sure that 3G-data fully works (if you want a digital sim card that ensures you this feature you will have to pay more than 50€, which is way to much for me). Maybe a no cut version would have fit into the blade, but I don't think that the back cover would've hold the pressure very long...

Guest flopyro Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 with that dual sim, would you be able to use bouth sim cards at the same time ? or just one at a time ?
Guest JHdD Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 If you buy this you don't have to cut your simcards: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.49004
Guest gujis Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 And how to switch between them? Can you do this without restarting the phone each time?
Guest flash2004 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 From the reviews it seems a switching option would be available in settings ? Can somebody confirm this ? This could be quite useful if 3G works for both SIMS
Guest Stryke69 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 with that dual sim, would you be able to use bouth sim cards at the same time ? or just one at a time ? No, you can only use one at a time (because the Blade doesn't have two antennas) If you buy this you don't have to cut your simcards: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.49004 This one is for iPhones only (smaller SIM card), and I'm not sure if the Blade could handle such a no cut card because you would have to fit this between the battery and the back cover and I think there's too little space to fit it in without bending the cover too much... And how to switch between them? Can you do this without restarting the phone each time? If it is an analog card, you will have too switch into airplane mode and back, but there's already an app for that on the market http://www.appbrain.com/app/multisim/de.qianqin.multisim. If you go for a digital dual sim card you will get a setting option, but as I said, digital dual sim cards often can't support 3G fully.

Oh wait your right that one is for the smaller sim in the iphone 4. This should work if you can wedge it under the battery cover: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.37817 Edited November 8, 2010 by JHdD
Guest bobhund Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 any news on the dual sim adapter? i also need some way to use two sim cards with my new zte blade. i'm using the phone in two countries and data roaming is far too expensive, exchanging the sim cards twice a day is not very user friendly.
Guest igors_s Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 At least there's no need to fully power off the phone to change sims. Seems to be enough just to put it into airplane mode and back.
Guest Stryke69 Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 The dual sim adapter I bought arrived, but it doesnt work so far. I will update when i got any news...

Guest Stryke69 Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Yes, the fitting is no problem.
Guest bobhund Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 I also ordered a dual sim adapter today. I will report on the succes or failure as soon as possible
Guest SpeRator Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Scroll down to dual sim adapter: http://www.m-99.co.uk/orange-san-francisco.html

Guest targetbsp Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 After reading some customer's reviews about this company I don't feel like ordering a dual sim adapter there. I can't speak for them lately but some years ago I had a spare battery and dual sim case for a nokia from them with no problems.

Which one did you buy - the cut version or the non cut version? My requirements are I have one sim that I use data on and one for voice.... Would this solution suite? I appreciate need to select each sim... How does the "auto" option work? Many thanks

Many thanks I bought the cut version for umts. you cannot use those two at the same time. thus you'd have to switch sims before using data and would not be able to receive incoming calls on the other sim. that's normal for dual sim adapters though. i didn't try the auto option yet. switching sims works well, takes some time though. for me it's perfect as i only have to switch sims twice a day.

Guest bobhund Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 i have some problems with the dual sim now. whenever i change the simcards (sometimes i need shortly to switch to fly mode after that to get a succesful switch) no data connection is possible. when i look up the apn section, it's empty and i cannot enter any new apns either. switching back to the first sim doesn't change the picture. i'm quite sure that the apns are still there, but they aren't shown any longer and thus not selectable. only a fresh start gives me the apns back. this is quite annoying but i didn't find any way out so far. the "fly mode" issue will probably also prevent the phone from the automatic switching being succesful. didn't get to try it yet due to other more urgent problems as these...
