Guest Shauneh Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) I also posted this in the 2.2 official thread for people who are reading the whole cumulative knowledge. DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for anyone using this information and causing damage to their phone, although this has continued to work for me: Problems with Wifi connection is down to some routers being completely DHCP compliant and the phones hostname using a none DHCP compliant chara (underscore to be exact), with some trial and error and the help of DJ_Steve I finally made it work with my router. The alter will be in the next update but for those who want to know how I did it, here it is: Need the Streak rooted Install Root Explorer (many other work) Navigate to /system/etc/ Mount R/W Find init.qcom.post_boot.sh add the line "setprop net.hostname Dellstreak" (remove the " "s) just above target= and save changes and mount R/O This worked for me, setprop alters the hostname in the build.prop but Steve could not get it to set permanently so I found that this works. I am not sure that this would cause any security breaches, it is running in another script that runs before full boot so aslong as you know what you are doing try it out. Thanks guys -- Shauneh Edited October 13, 2010 by Shauneh

Guest popetodd Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 I'm connected to my DLink 615 using WPA2 right now, connected without issues. Check that you are broadcasting your SID, it would not work when I had my SID hidden on the router.

Guest Shauneh Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Jutley is your Streak rooted, if so download Android Terminal Emulator from the market place. After this load the app and just type: su and hit enter this will propt you to give super permissions to terminal. Once this has worked just type: setprop net.hostname Dellstreak and hit enter again. If it allows you to connect then it was a DHCP problem :) I will post some pics later.
Guest Jezster Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 I have a Dell Streak phone (2.1) and a BT HomeHub2, guess what ... I have the same problem. I have noticed that the Streak leases everything single address on the hub and then never connects. Also what I see is massive amounts hits in the MAC table for the phone ... xxxx.xxxx.xxxx-1 xxxx.xxxx.xxxx-2 xxxx.xxxx.xxxx-3 etc. I have told the router to always lease a specific address to the MAC but no good. I think it's BT's software in the Hub. It can work if you reboot the Hub and phone, but that's not acceptable. I'm going to try different options to see if I can find a workaround.
