Hi,

This is my first Post here and I'd like to say "Hi!" and Thanks for this great Forum and your custom Roms!

Also I'd like to use this opportunity to issue a word of warning regarding "Black Leather Case Cover Pouch Orange fit San Francisco" from "1smltd".

I just bought two of them (stupid me!) and this is what I received:

I don't think it requires further comments... eBay doesn't even allow to leave negative feedback earlier than 7 days after the auction... :)

If someone can recommend a proper fitting case, that would be appreciated.

Thanks!

raph

Ordered one which is the official htc desire case iirc (think it was s520 pouch or something like that)... Hopefully fits like a glove, as that's what I'd read somewhere on this forum :)

I just bought the E71 leather pouch off eBay - cost £3.40 posted. Will probably paint a big red cross over the Nokia branding and paint the android logo on top. Watch this space, will upload some pics when completed.

I ordered the HTC PO S520 leather pouch and it fits the San Fran perfectly. It has a handy pull tag to get the phone out easily, and the phone stays securely in there even when turned upside down.

Got it for £6.60 from amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/HTC-Desire-Officia...3549&sr=8-2

So the SF stays in that pouch? Tried my HTC PO S520 that I have for my Desire and the SF wouldnt stay in the pouch if I turned ut upside down. But maybe it would stay better in a new pouch that havent been streached out because the Desire fits very tightly in it.

Got one of these as well - does as said the phone does fit in :)

if you actually insert the phone into the pouch, you will find minimum lateral movement also if you then invert the pouch the phone is still held within safely.

to fit properly you would need a more sculptured design usually costing rather more.

Mine does, but I bought it brand new specifically for the San Fran and it's been fine (so far). As the Desire is bigger (just) than the San Fran, im sure that putting a San Fran in a "used" S520 case would allow it to slip out due to stretching. Even though mine is pretty snug, i still make sure it stays upright just in case.

Haven't got any of these cases but do have an E71 and an SF in front of me.

Can confirm that the SF is pretty similar to the E71 in general dimensions (fits securely into the free E71 case Nokia supply).

The SF volume rocker is in the same position as buttons on the E71.

The SF camera lense seems to be offset three mm or so down and left of the E71 equivalent.

The SF hard buttons on the front are below the bottom line of the E71 keyboard and the SF screen extends further up the face of the phone than the E71's.

The E71 power button is top-right if the casing rather than central, the USB port is 2 or 3 cm lower and the headphone socket in on the bottom rather than the top.

So an E71 case will be a pretty decent general fit but won't allow access to all functions of the SF if it covers front and / or sides and may cover the camera lense at the back (although given the quality of the SF camera some might say this would be no great loss.)

Could you take a photo please?

This interests me alot.

Photos on the way - not very good ones, mind, as the light in here is crap! The only things not accessible when the case is closed are the power button and headphone socket. Saying that, the headphone socket is only slightly covered - with a slight modification, this is easily solved. The power button isn't much of an issue either, as you'd normally open the case to use the phone anyway! The camera lense on the back isn't obscured by the case, nor are the volume keys on the side. The usb is accessible too.

The leather slip case for larger mobile phones in Vodafone shops is a great fit, good quality and can be taken back if it breaks and you keep the receipt, is available in dark brown and black and costs only £6 on the high street. It is a very, very good fit - a bit tight at first but then the leather stretches. Stitching down the side stops at just the right point to allow charging while in the case. Try one and see if you like it. I'd say it is a very good buy - particularly in comparison with some of those ebay pics.

I bought the Cygnett Grooveshield Metro Leather enclosed case which was half-price (£9.99) in my local Tesco Home Store.

It's basically a leather pouch which has a pull tab which is also an arm to keep the pouch closed. It fits the phone perfectly.

Cygnett Grooveshield Metro

There was another pouch case there from Belkin which had a mesh bit where you could see the time if you pressed the power button. I reckon it would fit the phone too, but I couldn't get the box open to try it, plus it was £20.
