Power on/Start Up sound/tune - Please help

Not sure how or what I've done

however when I turned on my SF

as it powers up I've been getting a tune, either one of the pre installed andriod ones or one I have installed myself

now my query is how do I stop this, depending on what tune it is it can go on for 30 seconds++

the only thing I think I may have done is change the ringtone for either text message or ringtone

god knows how or why its happening when I turn on my SF

anyone help me clear this up

Yeah, this is a real pain in the neck. There's an app called silent boot but as far as I can see it suppresses only the shutdown sound. There are a couple of workarounds - you can turn of notification sounds completely (so no sound if you receive a text or SMS) or you can download a silent ringtone (!), select that as the default notification sound & then use an app called Missed Call that lets you choose different notification sounds for SMS & missed calls. Messy, but works.

Funny - I ve NEVER had a boot up or shutdown sound with my SF. Thats with the Orange stock ROM stragith out the box or with MCR R3 which is on it now.

The sound is probably from having 'Settings | Sound & Display settings | SD card notifications' enabled. Just uncheck and phone powers up silently :)

can't see to work out how to multi quote !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyway have tried the above both ways (unchecked & checked) & both ways I still get the tone upon powering up, dam frustrating and getting annoying

can't believe that such a modern phone can't disable this, also can't set the notifications the same way as previous mobile phone eg. vibrate first the ringtone

also posted this query on another forum, sounds (pardon the pun) like the majority of other SF users (like m_w_clarke) don't suffer this annoying problem (btw I've rooted to R3)

any other ideas folks, please help me out here folks

another twist to this issue, it appears if I change the ringtone

this is the sound what comes on as I power up the phone

has anyone any idea how to stop this, without downloading an app

surly something must be in the settings somewhere

its bloody annoying, especially if I select a long mp3 ringtone
