I know it is a longshoot, but my usb port is broken, and i only have charging capabilities on my pulse

now i would like to install some custom roms, coz on oficial 2.1 stock camera is broken (it restarts the phone completly)

so now, is it possible to install custom image recovery without usb cable? trough wireless or bluetooth maybe? i know you have to enter that blue screen mode, but it doesn't hurt to ask :)

thx ^^

erm i dont think it is possible without usb cable, sorry to shoot down whatever hopes u had:P

it would be extremely difficult to do it over bluetooth/wifi which is why i think theres nothing of the sort available.

but then again i havent been ont hese forums much lately so my opinion my be invalidated by someone with a bit more knowledge :)

Roote it somehow, I don't know how look around in the forum for answers (maybe this link can help Root ).

Then install ROM Manager from market and install custom recovery for Pulse from inside the program.

1. download universal root from the market (or from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747598 - may need to reboot

2. Download ROM Manager from the market and allow it to install clockwork recovery

3. Using the web browser on the phone, download terminal from the market

4. Using the web browser on the phone, download the rom image you want from modaco

5. On the phone download the modaco rooted boot image

6. On the phone, Run the terminal application and type su

7. in terminal run flash_image boot <path to your saved image in step 5>

8. type reboot recovery and hit enter

9. once in recovery mode select install zip from card then choose zip to install, select the file from 4

10. once flashed, reboot

Try fixing your USB port. With a soldering iron its not impossible, fixed a pulse from a friend last week.

i tried the universal root but it doesn't work....

i sent my phone to the service shop, they said that the motherboard is to badly damaged and that they could only get charging capabilities...

The Mainboard i fixed was also heavy damaged, but following the lines and solder some cabpes fixed the port for me. If you get a picture, i can help you to fix it.

Didn't someone work out how to flash through serial too? part of the boot debugging that was done for froyo etc.

edit:

here you go

http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...-on-the-pulse/#

looks like you can root if you load the image (eg recovery) you want onto sd, add the flash_image program and connect to the pulse using a serial cable you can hack together for a few quid

probably worth double checking with TomG that it worked ok though

Sorry for disappointing you but it seems what rs-232 works on 1.5 rom only (at least for me). As you know upgrading to 2.1 removes custom recovery so it's useless for me. But if someone could do that and help me i'd be happy ;-)

Are you sure, I didn't see any mention of 1.5 on that thread and TomG states "tested on a boot image that should be locked down and it works "

Other than this, at the moment you are pretty stuffed but you could pick up a second hand pulse for £60, or move to a sanfrancisco for about £80 brand new, worth doing imho

I've tried by myself and got the same result

Already ordered cisco :) But I love my Pulse and want to keep it and repair if possible

Could you help me with repair to? What part of board do you want to see on photo?

So, has no one been able to rebuild an updata.app? That's a bummer.
