Guest Simon Baker Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I have a folder called music on the SD card and a track on there is the ringtone, everytime I switch the phone off it reverts back to a built in one. Anyone else have this issue?
Guest m_w_clarke Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I have a folder called music on the SD card and a track on there is the ringtone, everytime I switch the phone off it reverts back to a built in one. Anyone else have this issue? YES! It drove me mad for ages. I eventually got around it by downloading RingDroid from the Market and then opening up the MP3 in there and then having it save it as a ring tone (it renames the files to "name Ringtone") Ever since this, the MP3 files has remained as my ringtone.

Guest pbando Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the useful info. Was having the same frustrating problem. Sorted now with ringdroid. The other solution is that you copy your ringtone to the /system/media/ringtone directory. This directory is "read only" so: - you can use Root Explorer which has inbuilt capability to temporarily remount the filesystem to Read+Write and you can copy the mp3 file - using adb remount from console when finished reboot is needed.
