Guest Jay3gsm Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I've been looking around for ways to get the Nexus One ROM onto a HTC Desire handset, but all I can find is details for the opposite. I really just want rid of Sense, an to run with the native Android UI where possible. I like the Nexus One menu, but prefer the Desire hardware, like the buttons at the bottom, etc. Can it be done? Any pointers to some info would be much appreciated.
Guest EddyOS Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Run over to XDA and check out OpenDesire - it's been made from scratch from source for the Desire but is based on stock Android http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768624
Guest David_P Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 You could also look Cyanogen ROM's while over on XDA, again it's based on AOSP vanilla Android and has lot's of support and features. Most importantly, remember to Nand backup so that any roms you don't like can go and you can restore back to where you started. David P
Guest BashyUK Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 How about Noonski's NSA ROM a few topics down?

David P OpenDesire now includes a lot of the CM tweaks in it so they're kinda one and the same. As is DeFroST
Guest trstn Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Or just bake a rom without all the HTC Sense stuff, easy enough to do using the kitchen.
Guest EddyOS Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 But that still has Sense colouring/theming - OpenDesire is completely stock
Guest beaverHausen Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I prefer the stock Nexus roms too. I've tried a few but have settled on DeFrost 5.1 (5.2 seems a little buggy to try just yet). Everything I think of it seems to have built in, plus great battery life too.
Guest shokka9 Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Noonski's NSA FF build is awesome. Works perfectly, no issues whatsoever. There are plenty of AOSP & Sense-less builds..... Uncle Google is everyones friend! :)
Guest Jay3gsm Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Thanks for the replies, I'm gonna try OpenDesire, and maybe DeFrost if that doesn't work out for me. Thanks guys :)
Guest Jay3gsm Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Just wanted to thank everyone who contributed to the thread, Open Desire is pretty much the kind of look I wanted for my device, it's not as pretty as Sense but then I don't go in for all that fancy stuff, and OpenDesire gives me exactly what I want. Thanks again.
