Yay, that U8150 Froyo kernel source might be of some help to Tom G and others taking on the Froyo port.

Does anyone happen to have a .config for the U8150 or U8500?

(BTW Happy Birthday T-Mobile Pulse Forum. I've just realized this forum is over a year old. We need cake!)

The cake is a lie.

Anyone notice how Bobo isn't around much anymore?

But yeah, happy birthday Pulse, to think that about a year ago today, we had 1.5. 1.5! With no A2SD! Or Flibblesan! Or me for that matter! Wow, must have been quiet..

Haha, Bobo seems pissed at something :) Guess he's joining the SanFran club in a short while. Can't see where his Pulse problems are coming from though, I'm on CM and everything is brilliant.

If Tom is the messiah, are we going to crucify him?

Also, no Bobo? No more mod to encourage my off-topic!

If he gets a san fran (I think he might be) and focus's on that, then yes we will crucify him (or at least untill he realises the error of his ways)

Also, its going to have to be a bloody big cake

Ill make the cake. I make the nicest chocolate cake that will make you all sick. It consits of a thin bit of chocolate sponge, then about 2 inches of choclate icing stuff, then another bit f cake (a bit bigger than the last) then covered in choclate icing. Thats then topped with all the chocolate delights under the sun (about 4 inches high) then a malteser placed on top. The sides are covered in chocolaty bits aswell, and its served with 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream =)

Does anyone happen to have a .config for the U8150 or U8500?

Download the ROM, extract the images from the update.app (will need to rename to updata.app).

Download the source and extract it. then you can extract the kernel from the boot.img then use a command like:

cd <kernel source dir>
scripts/extract-ikconfig boot.img-kernel > .config[/code]

ideos.zip

cd <kernel source dir>

scripts/extract-ikconfig boot.img-kernel > .config

Cool. That's neat. Cheers flibblesan.

I got the command slightly wrong so I've fixed it in my original message.

I had a quick play with this today. Is it just me or is the code incomplete? I was trying to build it using the U8150 config and it fails. I haven't tried to fix it yet, maybe it won't be hard but without a U8150 to test it on I won't know if it works.

It seemed to compile ok for me. It gave a few warnings but it built a zImage. As you say, without a U8150 it's difficult to know if it works. I used: make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-eabi-

There are lots of references to msm7x25 but not many for msm7201 so I guess that's worrying. I daren't imagine how much work would be involved to merge it with the Pulse Eclair kernel. But there are some interesting parts. I notice it has a multitouch driver specifically intended for the U8500 and the driver is named 'Synaptics TM1319' which is the same name as the Pulse driver so could they be the same hardware? One day I might try to find some time to experiment with the commands that driver is using, but on a Pulse touchscreen, just to see what happens.

Edit: I've just noticed I'm using a slightly different .config. It has a couple of minor additions and is dated Fri Sep 17 21:27:33 2010. That .config file is attached. I got it from the U8150 V100R001C85B823SP01 T-Mobile USA firmware.

The silly thing is that the IDEOS has a MSM7201A CPU so the kernel should support the Pulse CPU.

The config I uploaded was from a different ideos ROM so it's possible that it's not compatible with the kernel source.
