oh where oh where have my emails gone

rooted my orange san francisco this weekend with thanks to all here for that, am ususng the pop3 email from my baked wotsit to view virginmedia email, but one i view them or even download them to the phone they seem to disapear!! on my last phone it just downloaded headers which i could view and then download to read if required

I can't see any settings anywhere to do this and how can i stop it messing my emails up
