Guest EMMJAY Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 My 2g connection turns off (aka the little 'g' icon with the arrows) after a while when the phone is sleeping sometimes. just today I missed 3 emails within a 5 hour period because the 2g turned off when the phone was asleep, and reconnected when i pressed the power button only to be bombarded with 3 emails. the whole reason i got this phone was to receive my email almost instantly. I have the official 2.1 installed, and i had the same problem with the official 1.5 someone please help.

Yes this happens to my phone also with the TMobile 2.1 release, I think its probably more to do with the 2g/3g switching which happens when signals fluctuate causing loss of signal. May be completely wrong though lol.

The only way I discover it is that I try to make a call out, and it fails and hangs up instantly. I have to enable airplane mode and then disable airplane mode, and login to my SIM card again. So far, I have not been able to establish a steady pattern, but it seems like this problem is worse when I have set the phone to 2G.

I have experienced this too, instant hang up on making a call even with signal showing.

Have you been able to establish any pattern? Did it happen with the official stock roms? Did it happen with only some roms? Do you also have a CHT8000? I've been experimenting a lot with this and it is driving me crazy. I can't find a pattern, so I don't know where to look for a solution.
Guest Speckles Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 I get it fairly regularly, it says "G" (or 3G) but when I try to browse the web or check emails I see the up arrow (tx) illuminate, but the down arrow (rx) does nothing. I have to turn on/off airplane mode or reboot the phone to get it to work properly. I then typically get a text message to say I have a missed call. If I leave my phone at home all day, it works all day, which seems to suggest that it loses connection with a cell site some times and doesn't bother to reconnect. My other phone (S) gets this at times too, but much less frequent, and it doesn't seem to affect voice calls.
