Guest RandomBeeJ Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Ive been trying to get the o2 1.6 on my at&t 1.6 to get the leaked 2.1 on it. So far I've had no luck. I followed all instructions, got past fastboot mode, selected to upgrade via sdcard in recovery mode and after that it rebooted and acted like nothing happened. Still on att 1.6. I'm a newbie to android and came from a jailbroken iphone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The guide you are probably reading is this one here: http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/08/how-to-...ell-streak.html While pretty well written, it forgets one crucial flaw: Dell stock recovery can't perform 1.6 --> 1.6. You actually need Clockwork Recovery Mod to do this. So, you've got to download that: http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...rboot-recovery/ Scroll down on that page until you see "Koush's recovery 2.0.5.1". That's the one you'll need. Instead of loading the recovery through cmd, simply go to Fastboot mode, and when USB connected, double click "install-recovery-windows.bat" and let it run it's course. Now, do as your would in Clockwork Recovery and run update.zip. This should bring you over to O2 1.6. Now, the annoying part: 1.6 --> 2.1 doesn't work on Clockwork Recovery. Yup. So NOW Fastboot and load up the Dell recovery by that cmd line you must enter. The 2.1 update should go smoothly. And finally, Dell's recovery doesn't do 2.1 --> 2.2. I think you are sensing a pattern. G'head and load Clockwork Recovery BACK on the device. Now you may keep it there in case you need to roll back to 2.1 or roll forward to another 2.2 update. Let us know if that works. I have gone through 3 Streaks now, and I've had to do it this way everytime. Pretty sure this is how it must be done.

A video would help very much but you don't have to. I hope this way works.

Take off your battery cover, pull out the battery, remove USB, and put the battery back in and put the cover back on. You must do this every time you need to exit fastboot. Yes, get the O2 rom and chuck it in on your sdcard if you haven't already. I do believe Dell's loader is strict on the update specifically being called "Update.pkg", but for Clockwork, you can be lazy and leave it as a .zip. In Clockwork, chose the option to search for the update on your sdcard (you chose options by pressing the camera button... give it a firm press, it isn't very responsive for some reason), find your .zip/.pkg on your sdcard, confirm yes you want to update, and then let it runs it's course. Then chose to reboot (if it gives that option). You know it will be successful if the Dell loading screen transitions into a blue O2 screen (a gradient blue with like some water effect of some sort). Give it a couple of minutes more and you'll be on O2 1.6. From here, mount your sdcard and put the 2.1 Update.pkg in your sdcard (and delete the old update from the sdcard too, for good measure) go into fastboot again, load up Dell's recovery, remove your battery, and go into recovery. Dell's recovery only gives you one option, so you shouldn't have trouble figuring it out.
Guest RandomBeeJ Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 I'm just gonna wait for the official update for AT&T. It's still not working for me. Thanks for the help anyway.
