Handcent sms deleted all my messages

I installed handcent sms because it had a few features I liked but last week I went on batch mode and selected a few messages to delete and my whole inbox got deleted.

I thought maybe I had accidentally deleted them all so I tried again after I got a few messages but once again if I tried to delete one message, they all deleted.

That is pretty unreliable and I know you can backup messages on their website but I don't want to have to sign up to that. Are apps unstable like this often?

I uninstalled the app anyway because I didn't want to risk something like that happening again with important texts but that was pretty suprising for me.

i think batch mode does delete them all, if i want to delete one message, i keep my finger on the bubble and press delete, works perfect.
