First you need to have the firmware to flash the GT540. You must download it to a file, from a working LG Optimus Chic.

I don't know if it would work directly on the GT540 without modifications.

LG Optimus One (P500) also uses Android 2.2. The P500 has a more similar hardware to GT540.

If i try to flash with chic rom can i come back to 2.1????

If you managed to successfully flash it I don't think you could then downgrade it, regardless of how unstable it might be.

Can't be certain though, basing this on people saying you can't go back to 1.6 from 2.1.

now i have21 baltic rom... can i come back if doesnt work???? to 2.1?? thank

Usually you can't downgrade. So if you can't come from 2.1 to 1.6 I gues you wouldn't be able to come from 2.2 to 2.1

well if someone could get hold of the 2.2 rom from the chic or the optimus one then i will happily try and flash it and report what happens. where do you find roms for things like that? or is it a case of someone will need the phone to take a copy from?

well i downloaded one of the roms and tried to flash as normal but with no luck. the log i got is below. i will keep trying but dont think its gonna go on.

right i have tried it a few times now with a few of the Roms and also a few different ways. still no luck though. get the same 1002 error every time. i don't know if its because the program is for the 500 and the LG updater is telling it its the wrong phone. don't know what else to try really. don't know how to access the info inside the firmware to try and edit it.

all, you cannot flash Chic or other to GT540. this is a different hardware type. even spec is same.

wake up man, if you need a froyo on GT540, flash with Quarx n Ankuch ROM. Searching again in this Forum.

Now, a small offtopic, could the GT540 run Gingerbread? If it could, it would be great.

Maybe.. But i think the min spec for it is 1ghz cpu.:)

No, its was only rumors that Gingerbread require 1ghz cpu. Google confirmed that device dosnt have to be 1ghz to run Gingerbread.

I VERY much doubt we will get an update from LG, they still haven't been able to roll out a working 1.6 - 2.1 update, so the chances of them giving us a working 2.2/2.3 at any point in the future seems as unlikely as the pope getting married.

No, it isn't, because LG will support LG Optimus One to Gingerbread.
