Guest timbomfg Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 So i need to revert to 8105 to get my original baseband back to run Steve's 2.2 release. So i subsequently discovered i have to flash the original recovery back, so fine, download 4399, run the fastboot tool which all appears to go fine. Reboot handset, let it boot up once to Android, fine, shut it down. Boot with vol keys down, get menu, select update via Update.pkg...... Black Screen I have the 8105 file on the SD card, renamed to update.pkg. Also tried Update.pkg just to rule out caps issue. Ideas?
Guest navrac Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 try holding the buttons down and selecting 'factory reset' to clear all the data off ( it will clear any apps installed and settings I'm afraid.)

Guest ali_alex Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Tried that, no joy! I think you need to flash original recovery from 2.1 8105 http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1436097
Guest timbomfg Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 a) that file is missing :) that is just a mirror to the file i was using, 4399 recovery
Guest navrac Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 (edited) a) that file is missing :) that is just a mirror to the file i was using, 4399 recovery As far as I can see it looks like it's not really recovered the recovery. It sounds like when you select the update form pkg its trying to call the clockwork recovery which isnt there. Either that or it doesn't like the file. I would go back boringly to step one, and try the original 1.6 - its in a sticky thread at the top of the forum under 'stuck on dell logo after 2.1 or similar' OR factory reset then reinstall stock recovery then try the update.pkg - which I'd download again just to check. Also I remember somewhere in the rather long froyo thread there was mention of another stock recovery download which worked for some people. failing that as a last try I would put clockwork in as that does allow upgrade from pkg as well as zip in case it is looking for clockwork. The above is only what I would try as I haven't had this particular problem before so I'm in the area of wild speculation...(AKA clutching at straws) the good news is that as far as I am aware, no one has managed to completely brick a streak yet! If none of it works I would download an irc client on your pc and set the server to freenode.org and join the #dellstreak channel. Edited October 16, 2010 by navrac

Guest timbomfg Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Well all the links for this alternative recovery seem to be dead. I've tried going back to 1.6, but nothing. Now i can't even boot into Android, i just get a dell logo. I can flash the ClockworkMod, but that only gets me back to 2.2/2.1. If i then try to flash the original recovery back, same problem as before, select upgrade, and black screen.

Guest alert_bri Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 try with new recovery stock from 2.1.....8105 download link http://rapidshare.com/files/425666220/recovery.rar Same problem here, and when I try this (thanks) I get the flashing LEDs and "open INSTALL_IMAGE fail" followed by a reboot, dell logo and then continually repeating O2 splash screen... no boot. Thanks for the help, but I'm afraid we're truly screwed this time :) Cheers Brian
