Boosting Wi-Fi

Hi guys,

I'm running quite an old custom ROM (I honestly don't know which one or by whom) and I've noticed recently that my Wi-Fi connection is a bit buggy to say the least! Sometimes it won't connect at all, even though I sit about five feet away from the router. Sometimes it'll sit at "Connecting" for ages, but then if I turn it off and on again, it'll connect. It drops out constantly and is, generally, a pain in the arse!

I don't really want to muck about changing the ROM as I might be upgrading to a Galaxy S in the near future, but in the mean time I need to be able to use the Wi-Fi on the Omnia. Does anyone know of a way to boost the Wi-Fi signal or something?

I tried reading through the forums, but honestly, there's just too much stuff to get through!

What's your radio "Phone" part?

According to the version information in Settings it's: i900XXHI5 and the PDA is i900DXID1/DXID1

Your "neighbor" andrew.mazlim have tested several phone parts and It seems that the XBIC1 is working good in the UK.

It is one of the most "balanced" phone part (in terms of phone signal, wifi signal ...).

Read this topic, phone parts are all different.

You should choose another one (your phone part seem pretty old : sept 2008) and test it by yourself.

Stupid question alert!

I can't seem to find out how to flash just the phone part. All I've found is a topic saying it's the same as flashing the PDA part but I just double clicked on the file for that and the phone part is a .bin file. Is there somewhere on the forum I can learn how to flash just the phone part?

You can flash the phone part with an .exe file (which contain just the phone part itself).

OR, flash the phone part (.bin file) with Grand Prix (not recommended, risk of failure).

Attached to this post, the XBIC1 Phone Part in an .exe form.

Just unrar, and flash it under Windows XP (you should install the XP modem drivers first, also attached to this post).

I didn't want to risk Grandprix as I'd seen posts saying it had wrecked the phone! This is much better for me.
