Hi all. Ive managed to brick my phone and was hoping somebody out there would be able to talk me through, and in an idiots guide type of way, getting it going again(hopefully!!).

I performed the 2.1 update as detailed on here and it worked wonderfully apart from i couldnt download from the marketplace. Reading round on a couple of forums i performed a hard reset to try and remedy this and now the phone wont boot and is only displaying a basic LG logo.

Ive tried reconnecting and running the 2.1 update again but to no avail.

Hopefully somebody out there can help.

Thanks in advance.

Update: have now got it to display download mode but am stuck again.

Start your phone in recovery. Volume down+camera+power, see if the pc sees the device. Start the update tool max it and select emergency and flash again.

It happened to me as well, don't worry!

KDZ Updater cannot see your phone in just one case: No drivers are installed; if your OS has the driver then of course KDZUpdater can give you an error, but LATER.

This is what I did:

The LG drivers are very bad in download mode but for a while the phone is recognized. If you launch LGMobile Update while in download mode, it will see a phone and check for its software then after a while it will say that no phone is connected.

Just before it says that no phone is connected launch KDZ Updater and you will be able to flash the rom! :)

good luck

Cheers for that but still no luck. It did briefly recognise the phone once (out of about a dozen trys) but it didnt work.

Right enough is enough. LG have had the phone back so hopefully itll be sorted soon. Sadly as i brought this bnib form ebay i couldnt send a proof of purchase so they say they might have to charge me. I'll keep everybody updated with what happens and if they do indeed charge me.

Also, i wonder if theyll send it back with 1.6 or 2.1?

Whichever im not fussed, as i wont be messing about with it again, its far too stressfull!

Thanks all for your suggestions.

I'm having the exact same problem. Don't really want to send it to LG.

Is there anything else I can try ?

Anything in linux I can use to do this or is it all Windows ?

As in linux I can see the phone via lsusb or dmesg.

Hi Stephen. I tried everything that everybody here suggested many times over just in the hope that one time something would work. Eventually frustration set in and so its off to LG it goes and if i have to pay a bit then so be it.

I dont know anything about Linux, and all the ideas above were for windows. It may be worth starting a new topic with Linux in the title, theres bound to be somebody on here who can help you.

Mine Bricked yesterday. Unfortunately after so many tries to reflash the phone became completely dead (could not turn on either with volume down etc.)

This is very frustrating !! I followed the official procedure of upgrading my phone and i have to wait 5 days (!!!) until LG fixes it.

Well, its a week later and so far ive heard nothing from LG. Trying the tracking number LG gave me just tells me theres "no data found" which is worrying. Ive just fired off an email to their customer services in an attempt to get some info so fingers crossed i may get a reply soon.

Will add further updates as and when i can.

Well, I managed to 'brick' mine (stuck halfway everytime I try to flash, and stuck at the LG logo). Spent a good few hours trying to recover.

Finally figured out what went wrong. The freakin USB cable HAS TO BE PLUGGED IN TO THE BACK OF THE PC. Somehow the front ports are just not as good...

@mauGT,

Same for me. Even I was trying App2SD. It did install but almost all my apps including the default apps, Google Apps, etc were gone and the phone memory still showed the same as earlier. Only I could see in the App Drawer was Contacts, Messaging and Settings. Even a Hard Reset couldn't solve it. Then I tried KDZ method and initially all went fine, but my phone did turn off on its own and now it won't even start. :)

BTW, I'm going to the LG Service Center and just trying out my luck.

Hey Marc, Have you heard anything back from LG so far? I'm just wondering because i'm having the same problem. I sent my phone off to customer support and so far haven't heard anything back (it's a week yesterday since I sent my handset).

I've also tried the tracking number which came back with the "no data found" message. I hope they get back to me soon as I've had to resort to using my old Nokia 3310.

Hi, sending the phone away was only the start of the problems for me im afraid. It took 5 weeks for mine to finally come back. During this 5 week period, LG denied having my phone at all and i had to track it down myself. It had been sent to a company called SBE logistics, whose website is mostly in French. After a bit of following links i found a page where it gave regular updates on the phone status and i was able to see what was going on.

The final straw was that this SBE returned my phone locked to O2 where it was originally factory unlocked.

When LG finally bothered answering my numerous emails about this, they told me this is how the phone is sold in the Uk and i must have imagined it being unlocked and basically to go away!

At this point i gave up and put it on eBay and vowed to never touch anything from LG again.

Sorry if this worries you in anyway, but im sure that youll be fine. I asked on this forum if anybody else had suffered from bad service like this and had very little response so i guess it must have been an isolated incident.

If i were you, i'd google SBE and follow the link to the repair status page, its listed as "reparation" or something like that, and try your tracking number in there. Worth a go anyway.

Right, rant over. Goodluck!!

Thanks for taking the time back to reply.

Blimey, I'm sorry you had to go through that it sounds like a right nightmare.

I went over to SBE and tried my tracking number but had no luck.

I do remember that the envolope that LG gave me to send my phone in had an address for a business park in glasgow.

It's for a company called Regenersis, I looked them up on google, they specialise in mobile repairs.

If I haven't heard anything back from LG in a few of days i'll try getting in touch with this Regenersis and see what they have to say.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply and I wish you the best with whatever device you replaced your LG with.

Hi, how did you get on with your phone, have you had it back yet? I replaced mine with a Samsung Europa which is great and ive resisted the urge to tinker with it this time, so far anyway..............!
