Guest JanusDC Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Hi guys, I have the following problem: I work everyday in my computer, and I like to wear my headphones and listen very loud music while working. The problem: I can't hear when somebody calls me. I know I could hear music from the phone, the thing is that I have much more music in my computer than the phone, and some times I watch also some youtube video, etc... and I prefer my 14'' screen to do so. So, what I am looking for is a way to redirect the audio output from my phone to the PC, so I would be able to hear when I receive some call or any notification in the phone. Is there anything like that in the market? I couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance for any suggestion. Cheers.

What you need is a cable to go from the output for the headphones and mic from the phone to the inputs for mic and line in on the computer. If you enable the mic uring playback that should work. I have a cable that does this but it only support mono sound output. I would guess that would do if all you want it the ringing to play. Alternatively how about using the vibrate function and placing the phone where you will notice it.
Guest mixlis Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 you just need a 3,5 mm jack cable . Insert the one end to the phone and the other to line in of computer. The line in is diplayed with blue colour rather than the mic which is pink

Guest JanusDC Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Thank both of you! I wasn't sure if I can use a normal cable to do so, because the headphones that came with the phone have four divisions instead of two as a normal one (I guess it is the two channels, the mic and the control of the phone), so I was wondering if there is no problem of use a normal cable with only two connectors (the two channels). Did you ever tried to do this?
Guest JanusDC Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 http://lifehacker.com/5633074/android-noti...-phone-to-growl Amazing! Much better than what I thought! I will give it a try.

Did you ever tried to do this? I connect my phone to the stereo from time to time using a cable such as this. Actually the second poster is right - you do not need the more complex cable I suggested as you only want to hear it ring. You would have to disconnect the cable to answer the phone though - I would have thought.....
