Guest JohnPorter Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 I think it will only get quieter as people move onto better devices, I have been expecting this for a while now. Pulse is dead now in my opinion, only hope is that we get a fully working CM6 port soon which may delay the inevitable demise of the Pulse altogether. When my contract is up I will be changing from the Pulse too :)

Guest TGWS Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 People new to android might stumble onto this forum, and people will the knowlledge we have now, might come and do what you guys are doing, and it becomes a circle. :) Hopefully, but i really want a HTC phone, but i duno when i can upgrade :)
Guest Simon O Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Even though some of us have moved on to other devices the Pulse isn't dead yet. Work is still being done on a fully working Cyanogenmod 6 port. Hopefully a fully working port will be done in the next few months. If not then there will be sufficient progress made for somebody else to take over and complete it.
Guest Epic-Emodude Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Ill probably have my pulse untill I turn 18 (2 and a half years to the day!) and can buy my own contract phone (will be the latest HTC phone at the time) so ill be hanging around for a bit
Guest DanWilson Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 C'mon lads ( Ladies too; if any ) Lets postttt! This place can't die. I'll keep giving CPR Cake. Poo. Repeat. Yup. Poo. Because spam can't start with a P. Also, Jamie, place isn't spelt plays. Fool :)

That's true :) But the developers are moving on though, Tom G is here but he also got a SanFran and that will probably slow down the progress of his port. I am completely satisfied with what we have though, as far as I see it the only thing not working is bluetooth and Tom has a fix for that as well :) Unfortunately like the OP said it is waaaaay more quiet than it used to be. Maybe when we get the new wave of US users that buy the Sprint version of u8230 things will get a bit more crowded :D So Flibble, how's progress on rom development for your new device, is the community as awesome as this one (aside from the 50% of the people that actually migrated there :) )?
Guest il_cholo Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) PULSE NOT DEAD!!!!!!!!! I´m still using FLB 1.5@OC@JIT and my phone allow me to do all I want, listen music while I´m running, sms, calls, check my corporate and gmail email, play games (Alchemy, traffic jam), locate me when I´m lost with ndrive, use my 3G connection @pdanet and etc etc I don´t know what do you want to do with yours but a dead one, could do all what I described? we need to stop freaking out about ours devices and enjoy them more, thanks Flibble for all the magic and curse you to betrayed us :) (joking) Edited October 18, 2010 by il_cholo
Guest JohnPorter Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 How long is your contract Tom? God knows why I lurk here. No pulse. I must love you guys :) Tom? I'm John :) My contract is up in 2012, on a 24 month contract. This forum is fantastic and the people working on custom roms / CM6 are fantastic too...but let's not forget without those people what future has the Pulse got? Without them we wouldn't have Android 2.1 fully working and we woulddn't be anywhere near having 2.2 either, so yes this forum is great because it's supporting the Pulse, something in my eyes that T-Mobile/Huawei should be doing! The Pulse may not be dead now, and as I said CM6 when it's fully working should breath new life into the device but I don't envisage this kind of support for too long as the Pulse will become end of line and people will move onto devices with much better specs and move one. People say they will keep the Pulse as a spare or as a second device, I personally have said that my self about having 2 phones, but I always tend to swap full time to the "better" of the 2 and end up selling the second one, think that's generally what people do. I do hope that support does continue, and I hope someone will have the capabilities to continue to work on CM6 if the current dev team stops. I will continue my support and J-MOD for as long as there is demand for it.

Yes but Tom will use the experience on the Pulse to help the SanFran which will end up helping the Pulse too. The Sanfran hardware has a lot more in common with some HTC devices which is a big reason why some people are moving to it (like the team behind VillianROM). But any developments are halted due to ZTE releasing a kernel that won't compile (sound familiar?). Tom won't let anybody down. There are still people that care about the Pulse and will not see it die!

That's awesome news, I installed a VillainROM on my friend's Hero and it's awesome, not as good as CM though :) Edited October 18, 2010 by igor_anta
Guest TGWS Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 As the creator of this thread, i feel kinda bad, becuase i was in the dark side ealier ( ZTE ) And the discounts people was getting was kinda making me jelous and my pulse's USB is now gone, i have to keep it in the right place for it to charge, so im thinking about it. But i really am i in love with the pulse, and the work people has done from the 1.5 to the Nearly completed 2.2 Rom. Wow. Everyone thats contributed to it. Love you all

If not then there will be sufficient progress made for somebody else to take over and complete it. The main dev Tom G in our forum has now been supplied with a Blade (by yourself I do believe). Although he has assured us he will continue with the work on CM6 for Pulse alongside his new work on the Blade, I wonder whether this will happen as I find it hard to believe he will be able to adequately share his effort and spare time between two devices. :) although I would love him to be able to and all of us would be very grateful I'm sure. Afterall, you were our 'Great White Hope' and assured us that you would do the same thing, but then proceeded to get rid of your Pulse. :) I don't blame you, the specs of the Blade were very attractive. But I have to say, as far as moving forward goes, it appears the Blade developement has kind of slowed to a crawl judging by my reading of their forum section. And if anything, at least we have been joined by a few new faces from Eastern Europe who have seemed to have just received their Pulses.

Love you all The Pulse is a piece of crap, as you yourself are experiencing; hard to love a piece of hardware whose USB socket falls off if you look at it fiercely. (I speak from experience - happened twice to me- and I've watched it happen to several folks on this forum the past year) The ONLY thing making it interesting is the community effort in creating upgrades and themes. No-one here is going to stay here, or keep using their Pulse once better hardware is affordable for them. Nostradamus
Guest Daz555 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) Pulse threads will die down somewhat because a lot of the issues with the original Pulse have been fixed or worked around. My Pulse is fairly rock solid running FLB-Mod1 v1.6a +A2SD +A2SD swap +A2SD jit +overclock. All the issues I had with my original Pulse are now gone. Yes it is a mile away from my wifes HTC Desire in terms of the Android experience but my Pulse is now a solid platform and for less than a hundred notes a year ago I'm not complaining. Nostradamus Woah, I would hardly call it a "piece of crap" :) What did you expect from a device on that price point? At the moment with the CyanogenMod port not a single user posted about an SMS drop or reboot because of memory lack. In fact those issues never happened on the original or custom 1.5 roms so if that was a huge issue people should have stuck on that till swap appeared instead of complaining about flaws in a unsupported update (even T-Mob UK pulled 2.1 after a short while). You can expect the same hardware problems (loose build quality) happening with the Blade after a few months and software bugs after a new version of Android. That's how it goes with budget stuff in general. You can't buy a Skoda and expect it to out-pace a BMW now can you :)

Tom owns more devices than just the Pulse and the Blade and is committed to development for both. I'm still developing for the Pulse but in reality there is only so much I can actually do. FLB-Mod is pretty much as good as it's going to get. There isn't any point continuing FLB-Mod 2 as I rely on the Froyo AOSP port which has been stopped in favour of the CM6 port. I know for a fact that Tom is still working on the Pulse CM6 port.

I'm loving CM6, but as soon as this USB port falls off, it's a piece of junk again.
