Dell Streak price reduction!

Just had a look at the Dell Streak on dell direct, and for some unknown reason, its dropped from £449 to £399!

Anyone know why they did this, if it is temporary or a permanent price. Would buy it now if I knew it was going to rise back to where it was before

It's now down to £379 in O2 shops & £399 in Carphone Warehouse, I think it's just a natural price decline as newer devices hit the markets.

I got mine from ebay, Brand new 32gb for £290 :P Always worth looking there first.

Im surprised that the phone has been reduced by this price so soon after it has first been released onto the market. I dont think it will start to seriously sell until version 2.2 gets released over the air, as im sure not too many people know about this forum and the excellent work Steve did on getting this off the ground and working into a stable build.

Can anyone see this falling in price again before the Xmas period? As I am going to go on finance I need to apply before december to make sure I have this by Xmas time to have a good chance to sit and play around with it :P

Any special insiders know if there will be further price reductions as a special xmas deal? If not then its a mid-November buy for me. Just want some advice as whether to wait for december or go for it!?

My guess would be this IS the holiday price drop.

Makes sense considering the Streak was delayed so much it really didn't have much time in the market as a top end piece of tech. I can see the Streak eventually going the path of the Palm Pre, where it is price-reduced to remain competitive to make up for more infrequent hardware refreshes. A cheaper Streak certainly looks a lot better than an expensive Streak when compared to for example the Desire HD.

They will realise its not as easy as selling laptops & desktops, as new phones are coming out all of the time, and its easy to get something better coming out.

With all this said, im still going to be buying one, probably in time for xmas.

If this IS the holiday price drop, and wont be going down anymore, then in a months time my orders going in.

I just hope I dont order it in mid-November, and then afterwards they reduce it again, I wont be very happy if that is the case, as I want this big phone, to fit my big hands a little easier :P

ya I love my streak but my bro just dropped 200$ and got an evo. When I compared them performance wise the slightly smaller screen gives better performance and the way cheaper price makes me not like my streak as much. The evo is well, and i mean WELL polished.. Whats the use of a 5inch screen if my videos dont play correctly. Yes im using rock player. I hope the streak doesnt fizzle out.. I really hope not

Well i don't know which version of Rock Player you are using but on the Froyo build Real Player V1.47 as it now shows plays all my Avi's fine no stutter lag or out of sync problems at all i really couldn't want anything more from a player it does all i want or need with out issues and in great quality.

As for the price of the Streak even before this price reduction i thought it was good value for money as the only devices with better processors so far are the Desire HD and apparently neither its screen nor battery life are that good whilst both of these are great on the Streak IMO and the Galaxy S with allegedly the better processor GPU and screen is also no where as good as the Streak either IMO and which is why I'm selling mine. I love the Streaks 5" screen as think its the best size before it becomes impractical to use as an only or main device and as i said before the outstanding screen and battery life just make it the best device around just now and believe it will remain so for quite some time to.

I agree, this phone is really good value for money, was quite surprised to see the reduction so soon after the phone came out.

Only 1 month before I apply for the finance for the phone, really looking forward to it. Just hope Dell doesnt take there time posting me the agreement to sign, delays things by weeks, hense my reason for going to apply so early!
