Hi, I wasn't sure where to put this. I got my San Francisco yesterday around 5pm. The guy set it up so my number would move to a new SIM card for the SF, and I also bought a new SIM to replace the now dead one in my old phone (Orange Rio) so I could give that to my brother.

When I bought the Rio, the transfer from SIM to SIM was almost immediate. They said in the shop "We're supposed to tell you 2 - 24 hours, but it won't take that long. It'll be pretty much immediately." and it was almost immediate.

The new SIM card I bought for my brother activated pretty quickly, but my new SIM for my SF STILL hasn't transferred! I used Phone Fund to upgrade and I don't know what I can do! I think my number (And credit! And data allowance for using the Android Market!! etc.!!) has vanished into oblivion!

Anyone know about this?

Can take a while, and Im guessing it depends how busy they are.

My GFs transfer from Virgin to T-Mobile for example took 5 days.

Thanks. My new SIM for my old phone activated straight away, so I thought they couldn't be that busy.

I did mine over the phone with Orange CS, got talking to a very polite Indian Chap who transferred my number whilst I was on the phone. As soon as I ended the call my old sim was dead and the new sim had my old number on it....

I think you need to ring CS??

I was in the same situation i.e. originally an Orange PAYG customer - wanted to transfer my number + credit to the shiny new sim. First I was told wait 24 hours as both sims could not connect to Orange. I tried them in my old K800i and they kept displaying "Inactive Sim". I rang Customer Services yesterday and the rep was able to "send me a sim update" in the form of a text. Once received I restarted the phone and it was fine :) The old sim deactivated and my new number was ported to the new sim - excellent!

Another note to everyone - has anyone received their £10 top up yet? I was told it would take 5 days till I got the credit. Having said that I'm on an o2 simplicity tariff and only use the Orange sim for the Wednesday 2-for-1 cinema tickets. But will keep checking my orange sim till I get it!

My number got transferred to my phone before I'd even got it home and out of the box (about 15 minutes)! The credit was also instantaneous.

I bought mine at beginning of October and the £10 credit still wasn't showing as of today (I'm not too bothered as I'm using my contract O2 sim in it) but I phoned up today to port another unused number on to the Orange PAYG one to get the £30 credit promo offer which they confirmed. I also queried the £10 original credit that hadn't come through and they said they'll raise an enquiry with the PAYG team which can take up to 5 days but should result in the credit coming over. I called on 0870 870 8888 (it's free on an Orange sim)
