Skype on 2.2v1

I did post this in the main 2.2 froyo thread, but that thread is getting a little on the messy side when it comes to finding information or asking advise, so thought I would start a new topic.

I can't be the only one to try Skype on the awesome 2.2 v1, my problem is that when I do use it it force closes when I hit the my info button.... I can start the app and log in with no problems.

I have read else where on the web (not sure how accurate) that Skype can detect if your phone is rooted or not and does this if it is. I have unrooted my Streak using Universal Androot but still get the above Force Close.

So on to my question -has anyone found a work around to get Skype to work, or has any advice to what I could try to rectify such a problem? Also does everyone have this problem or is it just me???

Cheers in advance fellow Streakers

Would you like to enlighten us?

If on 2.2 v1 and rooted follow these steps that worked for me.

- uninstall Skype

- unroot your device using Universal Androot (this may take a couple of attempts, but wait for confirmation that it has been done)

- Do a fresh install of Skype from the market.

- Login to Skype

- Re root using Universal Androot (again will probably take a couple of attempts) if required.

- Enjoy Skype without force close....

And just to let people know, once Skype is running you have to go into my info and press menu button to get the opinion to log out!!!!

We just need the front facing camera to work with Skype now and BOOM, perfection!!!!

That did not resolve the issue for me. What did it is the following:

The problem seems to be the LCD Density being set to 140. I set it back to 160 (Streak Default) and it now works like a dream
