Guest joe t Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 today i received my phone via ebay . it has sebs r4 rom and also has the clockwork mod. the chap that i bought the phone from altered the phone at the point where numbers show instead of exit when leaving the web. id like to put on the latest update, but im new at this and would like a total idiots guide if some is prepared to take the time. it looks straight forward, but as with the first time at anything i tend to flap a bit. im sure there are other noobs who this might help. there are 3 updates for use via clockwork, do i use them all or just the top one. i have so many questions that im sure an idiots guide will answer them. so if anyone can help please do. joe........
Guest Stryke69 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Have you tried this guide? http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/ It's very easy to follow and worked perfectly for me
Guest joe t Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Have you tried this guide? http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/ It's very easy to follow and worked perfectly for me hi, yes ive read that guide, and it seems i only need to do pt 3. what i dont understand where it states "open a terminal" then goes on to state "Check that the outputted MD5 is: 693efb4ae54bb00baead2f4853a3119a" it dont for me correspond to what seb states at the beginning of this thread. im just not grasping it at all. joe..........
Guest oh!dougal Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) The MD5 is a checksum. You download a file, then run an MD5 check on your download and IF it exactly matches the published checksum, then your download has arrived without corruption. (Any corruption could produce subtle and/or bizarre misbehaviour of your phone, so its important to ensure it is not corrupt before passing it to the phone.) You do the MD5 checking differently depending on your computer. For Windows, you need to download a program. See the guides! Edited October 19, 2010 by oh!dougal

Guest Sebastian404 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) today i received my phone via ebay . the chap that i bought the phone from altered the phone at the point where numbers show instead of exit when leaving the web. It sounds like he was using the old version of v4, you need to download the first zip, put it on your SD Card and re-install that.. the other downloads are to add live wallpapers (I hate them but people nagged me to add them) and the Super User utility. you install either/both of those after the first one. Apart from verifying your download, and moving it to the phone, you just need to use (the necessarily already installed) Clockwork to install it. The main difficulty is recognising the wood rather than the trees!
Guest joe t Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 ok i will take the plunge lol joe.......

Guest Sebastian404 Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 guys, whats all the fuss about :P There's a quote for the box. I'd keep r4 on your SD card, and get rid of the previous ones.... unless you need the space.
