Guest loulouxx88 Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Please someone help! I have had my Desire for about 5 months, it randomly restarts itself and often will get stuck in a loop and won't work again until I take out the battery while the phone is still on and then replace it. This time however, after taking out the battery and replacing it I get to the first screen - white background with green Logo - and it won't go any further. I tried leaving the battery out for a while and trying again, I've tried turning on the phone while holding the volume down button and from this screen I have tried 'fastboot', 'clear storage' and 'recovery' but nothing works, I still keep ending up back at the same screen! The phone crashed while I was playing Angry Birds :P I have a virus checker installed which I run regularly and have never had any bad software according to this, and I have the task killer installed so no other tasks where running at the same time as I was playing (as I always kill them before using the net or playing games). I removed the battery and plugged the charger in and got the green and orange lights showing so I think the hardware is OK. Please help, desperately want my phone back :D

Guest bpivk Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Is your phone rooted? Do you have a custom rom?
Guest Cactus42 Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Given the symptoms I'd say you've got the Desire random reboot issue. It's well documented and unfortunately appears hardware related Doesn't matter whether rooted or not, what Rom is installed etc. See here - HTC Desire rebooting on its own

It's well documented and unfortunately appears hardware related Doesn't matter whether rooted or not, what Rom is installed etc. See here - HTC Desire rebooting on its own I'm sorry I'm not at all techy... whatever ROM is installed is what the phone came with - and what do you mean by 'rooted'?. I'm not worried about the phone switching off - it's been doing it for ages - but it's never got stuck like this before. I recently removed a load of unused apps so it would run faster and that seemed to stop it happening so often.
Guest loulouxx88 Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Is your phone rooted? Do you have a custom rom? I have not rooted the phone and I haven't customised anything - it's all just standard
Guest BashyUK Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 I have not rooted the phone and I haven't customised anything - it's all just standard Why waste time on it then, especially if, as you say, you're not technically minded? Just call hTC or your network provider if on contract and get a replacement. And avoid task killers, Android works more efficiently without them and has more problems with. Its not like the desire is a low specs that it needs tasks killing anyway. Hope you get it sorted.
Guest bpivk Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Take your phones to a service center if you have a stock rom.
Guest loulouxx88 Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Thanks all for your help - I took it back to T-Mobile yesterday so fingers crossed I get it back in a month all in good working order :P
Guest jokerzero Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 My wifes HTC Desire has same problem. Playing angry birds it crashed and now will not boot past the white screen and green HTC logo. Looks like there is a serious problem with Angry Birds on the desire. Its not rooted, and still on 2.1

Its not rooted, and still on 2.1I play that game all day long on my phone and I don't experience any issues. Did you try to do a wipe? P.S.: Don't be so quick to diss the bird. :P

Well 3 units I suppose does not make for a major issue, although you million downloads is for all andriod phones, not the HTC desire running 2.1. add to that the fact that the thing has worked perfectly for some time - on goes AB - crashes while playing and cant be recovered - find a thread on-line of 2 similar experiences and one could be forgiven for thinking there is a common problem between them.......
