Guest iandlm Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 (edited) My wife has one of these which is running 1.6, and it's great for her (not too technical), however, there is one issue. When she makes a call, the lock screen activates within a couple of seconds, meaning that she has to unlock the screen before she canhit the keypad again. This is extremely annoying, especially when dealing with "customer care" systems that some companies used. Is there any way to disable the phone from doing this, or at least increase the delay for displaying the lock screen during a call? I think she is using the LG Home Screen rather than the Android one, Would using that make a difference? Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks Ok, so just seen a previous posting with something similar but this is about 2.1 - however, looking at the comments, this is "how it is" - can anyone confirm this or not! Guest lastnewtstandin Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Hi there. just saw the OP's problem and had a play with my LG as i too find it a hassle when calling customer service' etc. It seems that if you unlock the screen after the first lock and press "dialpad" the screen stays unlocked. couple this with a headset or loudspeaker for the perfect Customer service combo!! Hope this helps took bleeding ages registering specifically to answer you.. Newton :P .

Newton :P . does not work with 2.1 it goes to the tap twice to unlock screen. and this si for the fact this phone is missing the proximity sensor. and if this would have not been put in place u would have been pressing end call, mute calls, etc.
Guest bushfire Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Why would anyone press mute call or end call accidentally any more than they would do that with a normal key-pad phone? do key pad phones go into lock mode when you are talking? I do not see what proximity sensor has to do with it. It should not go into lock mode, period. Or at least give an option to user to switch this on or off permanently not for each call.. I agree that using headset makes it a bit easier at least you can keep the screen in eye view instead of having to toggle from ear to hand and back. But this is not a solution.

I do not see what proximity sensor has to do with it Because on a normal phone you would feel the buttons against your skin and the buttons are usually recessed to prevent this where as with this phone and it's highly sensitive screen you could very very easily hit any button displayed on the screen at the time. A proximity sensor turns the screen off when it detects something near the surface during a call.

That seems to make sense...but I hope they put in some kind of mechanism to suspend or cancel this feature for some calls. Perhaps when you press keypad it can remain inactive.
