Guest Argonaut Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 OK ... brand new Galaxy S ... nothing installed on it ... which negates comments in many of the posts here about too many MP3 files on SD card. (no ext card fitted) Downloaded and installed latest KIES ... on VISTA PC .. Plug in phone, bings & bongs ....it installs drivers, starts up KIES. I click on 'upgrade firmware' it tells me can't use other widgets (I'm not) It brings up window showing 'no device connected' Phone is ON and shows connected to KIES by USB on screen. on XP Laptop Plug in phone, bings & bongs ..... then standard MS window asking me to install CD for driver .... I don't have one If I tell it to go find one via internet it keeps showing window that it is looking for MTP drive ... but never completes. KIES does not autostart (even though sys tray icon shows autostart as 'ticked' Phone does show its connected to KIES So 2 attempts via 2 different PC's .... both failing, any suggestions. I did watch the Samsung firmware upgrade 'video' I have done all steps in there - just does not work
