Saving contacts + numbers to SDCard?

There seems to be an option that says "Save to SDCARD" when I create a contact but when I do that, it disappears and I cant select that person from my list of contacts unless I save to the phone memory?

Can anyone shed some light onto this please?

Also secondly I need to transfer everything from my old SDcard onto this new one - is it possible to simply copy and paste everything across and put the new 16gb onto the phone?

Can't you just put your sd card in a card reader, then copy and paste everything on your sd card to your computer, then put your 16GB sd card in the reader, connect it to the computer and copy all the stuff back onto that, hope you understand, not sure about the contacts problem tho. I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong :P

You're right about the contacts problem. I created a new contact to SD card and I can't find it. I'd not noticed this was an issue because all my contacts are on the phone.
