Why do people have issues with 2.2 that others don't?

For example, I see people that have major battery issues with V1 and wanting to re-flash a previous beta version.

Why would this be? Surely if two devices are flashed in the same way, using the same image, they should have exactly the same problems?

I have had no problems with connecting to 3G. No problem with battery drain (if anything it's better). No problem getting stuck on the Dell logo.

Luck shouldn't be a factor, should it?

there's also issues with people using things like titanium backup which may restore incorrect settings.

1+ on that!

Many people restore their settings and programs with backup software and this have its BAD sides!

I always do Clean install and have no problems!

Hi all,

I have to agree with whats been said about using back ups and restoring them especially when you have done anything more then just a minor upgrade to the version your are on. In fact i have never liked or used any of these programs on any of my devices or OS's as when flashing new firmware i always prefer to reformat and wipe everything and then slowly reinstall everything manually it may take longer but i have always found it results in a better and cleaner install and usually avoids many of the problems others seem to encounter. It's not like it takes half a day to reinstall and set up our devices i think the whole process from start to finish including installing and configuring all of my apps widgets and Home screens was a couple of hours at the most i didn't bother timing it but it really wasn't long or hard IMO. I don't see the point in trying to save a little time and effort when it can then cause you problems which results in you spending more time and effort to resolve the issues as well as having a devcie that isn't working well then doing a clean install in the first place obviously this is just MO and others may disagree but I'll stick to my way as it suits me best and so far has worked best for me.

I use Titanium backup to restore my apps, but that is ALL I restore with it.

No settings, restoring those once taught me to never try that again!

Just putting the apps back in place works like a charm, no issues at all.

I agree - apart from the know actual issues such as the camera, I have no problems with the screen, unlocking,3g, wifi battery drain or anything. I use titanium to restore the apps - but no data/settings - I do that manually.

on standby in my pocket (albeit with juice defender) I can do two days with light use (calls &~ email only).

Today was a 'heavy' day. - I only managed 12 hours, but there was a lot of web access, I needed the GPS on for an hour as the jubilee line closed down so I had to find new trains and walk between stations, lots of 3g data and calls. I also watched videos for 4 hours on the train, tweeted and facebooked in between movies.

No crashes, no sticking, no loss of data.

maybe it is luck, maybe there are slightly different hardware versions? That could be why o2 pulled their 2.1 build - it worked OK for me but not for others, having said that the leaked 2.1 build that some people found OK was unusable on my phone - constant reboots, crashes, couldn't answer calls - but for other people it worked fine - spooky....
