Guest Elixile Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 (edited) Hey guys, Today, I won an Acer Liquid E Ferrari Edition. Being a BlackBerry user for so long, I figured I'd give it a go. I love Android. It's an absolute massive experience compared to BB but I'm not particularly thrilled about having a full Ferrari Theme on the phone. Also It came preloaded with so many useless applications that I can't uninstall. I'm looking to have a clean fresh format of the device but I can't seem to find a guide that works. It's been all of today and I'm absolutely frustrated. At some point, I even started getting Trojan alerts. I'd like to get your support on where I can get a stable good OS (2.1 or 2.2 whatever you recommend) that I can install on the system. Since I've hardly done this before as well, if there's a step by step guide for noobs like me on the entire process from formatting to re-installing, I would highly appreciate it. Thank you very much! Joe Edited October 22, 2010 by Elixile
Guest gwilo Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 (edited) First welcome to the club. You will have to root (unlock) the phone to get ride of the useless Apps. See this thread http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...easy-installer/ read through the last 5 pages and look for when they talk about the Ferrari Edition as it is different than the regular & E models. As for adding a new ROM see this thread http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php...tom-firmware%29 It is based on info from here but put in a nice clean package (2 months of posts combined) Also I am not sure if the BIN & ROM from the Liquid & E will work on the Ferrari The main upgraded ROM can be found & look at threads starting with [ROM] on the first 2 or 3 pages http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...-rom-froyo-1-0/ http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...pshot-koudelka/ http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...nogenmod-6-1-0/ http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...uid-10-15-v0-4/ http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...-8-2-2-rebirth/ Edited October 21, 2010 by gwilo
Guest Elixile Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Thanks a lot Gwilo. Step 1 complete. I can confirm that 2.2 Froyo from the Howardforums link you posted worked beautifully on the Liquid E Ferrari. Now to try and get some RoMs Running. Will post an update if I succeed and getting LCR-F running.
Guest Elixile Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Hiya again, Everything works fine except when I try go into Recovery mode. Here's what I get. Partition Checksum splash1:chksum =8ba9da08 OK boot:chksum =f093e339 OK recovery:chksum a61f36f9 !=002152b0 **fail** system:chksum =0436808a OK ======= <<FAIL>> Any idea? I used the Malez file which was tagged specifically for the Acer Liquid Ferrari and installed it manually as per the HOW-TOs. Cheers, Joe
Guest Dona' Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Is your phone connected via USB when trying to go in recovery ? If it is disconnect it.
Guest Andy__P Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Did you install the recovery before or after you flashed the bin? If you flash a bin you have to install recovery again.

After I flashed. Is your phone connected via USB when trying to go in recovery ? If it is disconnect it. Wierd. It's refusing to go in completely. Get the feeling I messed up. Going to start all over again. Will post findings later. :P
Guest Elixile Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Woohoo! I started the process all over again and now running LCR on the Liquid E Ferrari. I will do a full bug test and submit it to the LCR team. Gotta say though, the battery is suffering horribly. :D Thanks a lot to all of you for the support here. Much love from Dubai. :P
Guest Harness Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 The battery will get raped at first, keep an eye on Settings->About->Battery and you'll see what's using so much battery. Wifi tends to kill the battery pretty good. I can get a full 7am-10pm day out of my device now, just took a little tweaking. Also, after a full battery drain, leave the device off and charge it fully overnight. That'll help, don't know why it does, just does. Glad you're enjoying the new device and android :P Harness.
