Guest tonyg1962 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Looking to buy a Liquid s100 but have seen in reviews that sound quality in music playback is poor. There seems to have been an improvement in the Liquid E but is this down to hardware or if i was to update my S100 to Eclair would that improve sound quality,
Guest Koki1337 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 It's the hardware, the phone has this pitchy sound quality, but using DPS manager would help equalizing it

Bundled ones are ok but they are Goliath-sized and don't fit well, I switched them for a pair of in-ear ones. The integrated speaker is crap.

In my experience, I don't detect any substantial difference between the Acer Liquid's sound quality and many popular phones and mp3 players, when compared with the same in-ear speakers (it doesn't make sense to compare different devices with different in-ear speakers....)! IF you are an audiophile, I can understand the concern :P But than again, if you are an audiophile, you will avoid at any cost to listen to music on any mobile phone :D Regards!
Guest fear_factory84 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Audio quality on my acer liquid s100 was improved by changing roms :P With the stock 1.6 rom audio quality was poor and volume low. Then I changed rom to the official 2.1 rom of liquid e, 2.107, and the quality improved but the volume was low. Then I flashed over the cooked rom ls 2.1.4, and volume improved as they include some tweaks to the audiofilter csv files. Now I'm on froyo with lcr-f 1.0 rom and audio it's definitely good. Quality could be improved if future roms will provide the dolby mobile libraries (now in the rom there is only the configuration tool). So definitely it's a software issue. I've bought in addition a sony ericcson mw600 bluetooth receiver (ad2dp/avrcp), and I use it with my liquid, and the qualiity is superb for me. It's on par with ipod quality. These things are very subjective, and you should not compare a phone to an high end hifi rack :D
Guest ginja Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 there''s an app called power AMP google it, it'really works, it has equalizer, amps etc.
Guest Chrispynutt Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) Does anyone else get a hiss from both the 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth audio playing back including MP3s and video? I am running default Eclair on my Liquid. Edited October 22, 2010 by Chrispynutt
Guest Thmz159 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 The problem where you're talking about is that a frequency is too loud. This is fixed in the 2.1 update for the Acer Liquid E. You can use this update for the Liquid S100. So just download and install the update and sound quality is fine :P
Guest Rajit Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 The power amp music player is really great!!! Used it for 2 hours without any issues at all!! But still went back to music mod because am sold on it's simplicity, elegance and its widgets (especially the 4x2)!!!

I am running default Eclair on my Liquid. Yep, I was wondering about that too, theres a "cassete tape hiss" in the background whenever and application plays audio. As for audio quality, using a pair of Creative In-Ear buds and it isn't so bad. The main problem is that it lacks basses a bit, but it's not so bad as some say. The integrated speaker however... god damn is it crap! My old LG u8550 (4 year old phone) speaker is WAAAAY better than the liquid's, which sounds really tinny, high-pitched and distorted.
Guest HustlinDaily Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 It is great through headphones on the FroYo leak.
Guest endariel Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 90% of the quality is on a good pair of earbuds... i usually use in ear buds from philips gogear ariaz and those are fine, stock earbuds are crap and really giant, useful just cuz of the built-in microphone during phone calls (but again, i use my car's handsfree when driving, or just turn off the phone when riding my motorcycle)
