horrible bluetooth audio

im not a friend of bringing up problems in ONE BIG THREAD, as they go under easily.

so i bought a SF and as it is cheap, i thought why not buy a bluetooth a2dp stereo headset along with it.

because i like the HTC headset adaptor which allows me to use my own in-ear (sony) headphones AND to do handsfree calling (since the shipped headset is obviously not worth trying if you like to listen to music)

anyway, first I tried the jabra halo. which refused to charge when i got it, felt cheap and didnt fit right.

sent this back and got a nokia bh-504 which feels good and wears good.

connection with the SF worked without a problem and i could start to listen to musik.

however, the signal must be so weak, sound stops when:

-there is a wall between the sf and the headset (well of course, thats ok)

-I put my hand between the right earpiece (which seems to contain the only antenna) and the SF

-and now: If I put the SF in my jeans pocket and wear the headphones on my head

a stable connection with the sf is not possible if I turn my head away even half from the side where the SF is.

Practically this means: I can carry the SF in a breast pocket and listen to music. BUT as soon as I look to the right, the connection will break.

of course it could have been the headset (..only one antenna)

so I paired the bh-504 with my gf's netbook. and with that I could walk through the apartment without any problems. it worked through 3-4 walls and still has been perfectly stable.

I also paired it with my HTC Kaiser, but it in my backpack and then also tried the maximum distance at home - up to 10m (even through walls) have been possible.

Is there anything you can do to tweak the bluetooth device of the SF?

like increasing the signal strenght, etc.

which you could do on WM?

serously guys! is everyone using the stock headset?

this is a severe problem...

i have been searching through the r4 rom, looking for any settings i could try to tweak.

but I have no idea where to start.

and since it was reported, that the headsets from other manufacturers (HTC) don't work I have no choice but to use bluetooth if i want to have better headphones.

also, it doesn't seem to be possible to change tracks, play/pause from the lockscreen, like eg. the palm pre (and even the iphone).

tried ^3 player, but it's function is very buggy. so avrcp buttons on a bluetooth headsets would be much more comfortable.

yep. i think both SHOULD work, but being limited to one would be ok...

the "workaround" mentioned, disabling the connection and then reconnecting again helps A LITTLE...

however, it is still unstable and phonecalls do not really work, except, when you hold the phone at appropriate height in your hands...

but then the purpose of handsfree calling is...

I flashed Froyo this morning and was really hoping that would help.

While Froyo is working surprisingly fine and I like the built-in (wired) tethering...

No change on the bluetooth problems...

I still cannot believe that the majority seems to be quite ok with the standard headset (or does not give a **** about handsfree calling and uses 3.5mm headphones for music) :-(

My only "solution" to the handsfree solution is to use my old Nokia 3.5mm adapter, works perfectly. But it does result in having about half a mile of cable between your ears and the phone.

Unlike the Nokias, it won't allow you to use the phones microphone and listen to the other speaker via the regular stereo headphones. Irritating - you've got to disconnect the headphones and just use it as a regular phone. Then when the call stops the music starts blasting out again .....

I just wish that the BB and iPhone didn't have their headsets wired differently to everyone else, as there's a fantastic selection of iPhone/BB compatible headsets, they just don't work with the Blade or Nokias.

A2DP can be irritating though - I had a few Moto S9s, they were hyper sensitive to phone location. Would often have problems when the phone was in a chest or trouser pocket. They were generally fine when put at the top of a rucksack worn on the back, but even then weren't reliable.

I think its as much an issue with A2DP and bluetooth as anything specific with the Blade.

Testing the bluetooth on my blade I was able to send a file from my computer to my phone from 5 meters away, with my pc and desk blocking the signal (The dongle is in the back of the pc) while it was in my pocket and buried in my quilt.

I don't have a bluetooth headset so I really can't help you there though :P

But, with file transfer, the blade is no worse than any other phone. And alot better than the pulse

perhaps file transfer may be ok compared to other devices. i havent used it so far, since regarding speed it cannot compete with usb.

however, as mentioned, i tried the bt headset with my old device, an htc kaiser, and the connecion was totally stable, up to 10m AND i was able to turn my head and still had music coming through...

what do you mean by nokia adapter... is there an adapter from 3.5mm headset to 3.5mm audio+mikrofone that works on the SF?

and I know... thats why i planned to get rid of all those lenghty wires :P

Perhaps you should try file transfer.. Even with another phone, just to confirm that your SF is not faulty.

(I need to get hold of a BT headset)

yea having problems with BT audio too

not just quality but wifi disconnects continuously when playing music to BT headphones. apparently cant use them concurrently. but file transfers doesnt affect wifi that much. capacity limit?

Yesterday I tried my BH-504 with the Blade and had no problems whatsoever.

Running on 2.2 alpha.

Nokia shipped the N95 (and some others) with a remote adapter with microphone, you could connect it to your own headphones and use the on-remote mic.

Motorola S9 works fine, but I tend to use it just sitting at my desk. The signal is not as good as on my old TyTN II, but it doesn't break up unless I'm moving around.

so... few days passed and an update for my problem:

after the fiasco with the nokia headset, I ordered a sony mw600.

I tried this with the SF and it works slightly better. at least the connection is stable when the SF is in my pocket.

you still cant go far away, like when connected to the laptop, but it works.

important for me is the simple and quick playback control on the headset. because turning the device on, unlocking, ... is quite complicated.

i tried droidshuffle for the one-key corded-headset control, but that did not work.

one question though: does android support showing the current title on the headset? (i think the mw600 supports showing the title on its display)

can I ask if the sony ericsson mw600 (bluetooth) is fully compatible with ORANGE SAN FRANCISCO - ZTE BLADE ???

i own the sony ericsson mw600 (bluetooth) and i use it with the sony ericsson w895(it's a little bit old so i'm looking for a new one and the ZTE is one choice)

so i have a few questions

is the connection stable??the range is good enough?(in the pocket it's acceptable)

the bluetooth shows the time in stand-by mode, the songs in media player mode, the caller's name in calling mode

can the ZTE offer those possibilities???????

?

Bump!

Anyone tested the MW600 with the blade? Thinking of buying it but i've heard that android doesn't support showing the title in the window.

Cheers

I bought a £8 generic bluetooth stereo device off ebay. Couldn't be happier!

The bluetooth on the SF has a longer range than my PC and sound quality is excellent!

Thought I had a bogus one at first as all my 3.5mm microphone headphones didn't work with the device and gave really bad sound! Really bad! Quick swap to some "proper" headphones and it's excellent!

Plus the bluetooth device has music controls and it's own amp (With vol up / down for the device not the phone), completly solves the SF sound issue

Said to have 6hours "talktime" and even more standby.. Not tested it that long though

Example link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mini-Clip-On-A2DP-St...=item4a9f854d86

I got it from this seller, this is the product but at a slightly higher price. Shop around if you want but £10 is still a steal

I got exactly the same device from eBay but from a different seller in Hong Kong. I use it in the car so that I don't have to have a cable plugged into the phone. It works absolutely fine. The Bluetooth receiver device is tucked away in a cubby hole in the car and the phone is mounted on the dash. Obviously, in the car there is a lot of potential for interference with the car electrics but it works brilliantly.

i use sony DR-BT10CX, and most of the time connection is fine with phone in my pocket. unless i wear my hoodie, then it gets flaky, otherwise i have no problems. And its the only way at the moment i get decent volume!

whoops.... missed the notification.

the mw600 works slightly better then the nokia headset i tried before. however, it can be important how you position the headset, so the antenna gets the best signal.

otherwise it can be really bad... since the connection is so weak, it can really depend on your clothes or how you wear your blade. or break the connection if heavy electric smog is around.

what is supported:

the keys, they work good, even with gloves. because thats the problem with the blade... no real keys and no way to control it with gloves. (except if you use a mod for the vol up/down keys)

however, since the volume control is also capacitive, this doesnt work with gloves on

whats sadly not working:

display. What would be really cool is the scrolling song title. But it doesnt work with the SF, or, I think, any other Android Device up till now. (Maybe HTC or Samsung has made an enhanced bluetooth stack for their devices? dunno).

It works fine if paired with my laptop, at least under windows and only with wmplayer...

Also, as i have said several times in this thread:

The bad connection is the SF's fault. With my old phone the connection is really stable and even better with my thinkpad or my gf's hp mini.

I really like my MW600 bluetooth and i just want a android-device to use with.

ahhh, saw this and thought i'd find help with my BT audio problems.

How do stop the SF dumping the hi def audio when its paused either by the head set or the player? its a generic stereo headphone, worked perfectly on my old Nokia N95 & E71, connected to the SF tho grrrr. For a short pause of a few seconds no problem, more than ooh 10 seconds and its gone.

stock rom unlocked to 3 and rooted (lightly to remove orange crap) using power amp for music, although the native plays up with BT too.

Oh and big hellooos all round too.

I've got the same problem with my sanfran and Nokia BH-503 headset, music freezes sometimes. Still no fix for that? My rom is based on Jellyfish RLS9, perhaps there is better rom for BT. I've never faced such problems with my old nokia e51.

Either your devices bluetooth is faulty (Unlikely)

Or your headset is old and decrepit and not supported by android :D

Annoying I know but..
