Cheers Chris Not sure about other providers, but with T-Mobile they reduce the quality of images if you're on 3G. Websites viewed over Wi-Fi are great. I'm sure most UK providers do the same.

M'mm not sure about that, I have seen better images on other phones on T-Mobile (which is who i am with) including great sharp images on the iphone 3gs which has a lesser screen doesn't it?
Guest JolyonS Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Can you give an example image URL? Which browser are you using?
Guest chris9181 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Can you give an example image URL? Which browser are you using? I'm using a stock SF so it is the stock browser. My daughter wanted to search google images and each thumbnail we clicked on just didn't appear very sharp

Guest Scatterbug Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Can you give an example image URL? Which browser are you using? I've noticed my Flickr photos appear to be a lower-res version. Could this be the Flickr mobile site at work?
Guest popoyaya Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Every mobile broadband provider compresses images to save bandwidth. When using a dongle on a laptop this is very apparent. There is a work around for firefox which forces the browser to load the images uncompressed, using an extension installed called 'Modify Headers'. (http://webdesign.phototropic.co.uk/notebook/how-to-fix-poor-image-quality-compression-when-using-tmobile-web-n-walk-on-a-mac/). Anybody know if there's something similar for android?
Guest dj9928 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Google images give a low res preview image, once you click on it there is an option to view full image or resolution

Guest Cypher_Aod Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Still highly compressed and pixelated though. yes, that's T-mobiles "fault". I've put it in quotation marks because it isn't really a fault. they do it deliberately to make browsing faster, and to ensure your data allowance doesn't get used up by useless images. try loading the same image over WiFi and it'll look fine.
