How to reverginize, need to send back to orange?

Hi there,

After a lot of trial and error and speaking to customer service I am going to send back my San fran to orange for a replacement.

12 hrs of light use is apparently not an acceptable battery time for this phone and it shouldn't get hot on charge as mine does. They informed me that it was a common problem with this phone

Anyway I am running clockwork mod and sebastians' deornagenated rom, can some one tell me or direct me to instructions on how to flash the standard orange rom back please?

Thanks

Yeah any help appreciated.....my replacemnet handset is coming tomorrow! ;-) need to sort it though before then!

I have now re-flashed the original orange rom using clockwork Mod, all is well, just wondering though...how do I get rid of clockwork mod?

get hot on charge: this happens on ipod touch, iphone and nearly all android phones..no surprise really..

battery life: how 'light' is your 12 hrs usage? check the battery info and see which process is consuming most of resources..I once found guita hero running on the background and it drained my battery from full charge down to 30% within 2 hrs.....SF's battery life is not the best but is still on par with most smartphones...

you can download orange stock rom from a sticked post above and flash it in the same way you did with sebastian's rom.

When you dealt with Orange they arrange to send you a replacement handset before you have to post the offending phone back to them?

Thanks for the help. Thing is I would take the phone off charge on and within 1hr it was down to 78% after doing nothing, maybe run a stopwatch app for 20 minutes. Or make 1 short call.

When I say light use I mean like 5 short phone calls and maybe 5 minutes 3G and 20 minutes wifi web. I turned off all background data, sync etc and it was the same with Modaco R3,R4 and Sebastian's R4.

People have been reporting 25 hrs plus of moderate use

I have checked if stuff was running it it didn't seem to be. Gets very hot on charge and slightly warm over wifi and 3g. I was getting 11.5 maybe 12 hrs at a push with 3/4's of the time the phone being idle.

Any way it's done now. They will send me a new phone tomorrow and pick up the old one, when it's delieverd. Sounds a bit too easy!

I have now flashed the Orange rom using clockwork but surely I need to get rid of clockwork too don't I?

This thread mentions something about flashing stock recovery image and boot image from fast boot after re-installing stock orange rom from clockwork>>>

How do I do this? Is it necessary?

We could really do with a guide for resetting the phone back to stock from a clockwork modded custom ROM.

Hi there,

I too have horrendous battery life - even with everything switched off (screen, wifi, 3G, task killer killing everything).

I can also report the high battery temperatures.

Did a replacement handset solve this?

I'd appreciate a reply as I'm stuck otherwise...

Well, i'm not entirely sure to be honest as I haven't actually been using the new handset properly since I got it as I am still deciding whether to install a custom rom and had to get an unlock code. However....

My old phone used to drop 1 bar from full to around 74% after literally 45 minutes off charge with the only thing I'd done on it being used the stop watch timer for about 25 minutes. This new handset took 7 hrs 45 minutes to drop 1 bar after doing exactly the same (a bit of stop watch timing, rest of the time idle). It has been idle and off charge for 2 days now and has only dropped 2 bars, I conclude that it is looking like it is much better at least in an idle/standby state. It also felt cooler on charge to me than the old one.

I am now a bit wary though of these custom roms as I don't want a repeat of the weak battery times I was getting off the old phone as this unit is looking like it's better. However many have been reporting good battery with custom roms so personally I am starting to think it was a problem with the handset itself as the battery figures were very similar for both paul and sebastians R4 roms. Unfortunately I did not test the phone prior to isntalling a custom rom

I would like to get rid of the orange crap though so I may root again and install Sebs r5 rom as it seems very close to the original rom minus the junk ware.

Hope this helps.

network unlocking your handset does NOT VOID warranty!!! if anything you should demand that orange give you a free unlock code as your handset was unlocked.

you may need to show proof it was unlocked. i.e. receipt.

now about battery life, i am interested to know, how long did you charge the phone for before switching it on for the first time?

i used to be really eager with my phones like my G1 and Hero and i never calibrated the battery properly. learnt that and made sure i fully charged and discharged the battery on my pulse and now the blade and both run for a long time. i mean when the phone switches off by itself because of low battery wait and switch it back on and try make sure the battery is completely empty before i charge it again. in the case of the zte blade it will keep vibrating but not switch on and then the vibrations will become more spread out as theres less power and eventually stop.charge is the same i switch off the phone and fully charge it. i mean wait an hour after the green lights on. then i take it off the charger for a few seconds and plug it back in and it charges for 15 mins again, i do this a few times to ensure that it is fully charged, i dont think i am over charging them as its not on charge for 3 days or something.

my blade lasts me 2 days and i play robodefence on it for 2 hours (1 to work in the bus and 1 on the return leg) and i surf the net, make calls and texts sometimes though out the day.

i class that as light usage. hope that helps.

time to switch on my desire hd for the first time :P
