Hi all.

I need you help.

When I turn on the phone it says: "The application Orange Homescreen (process com.orange.homescreen) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again"

I cannot go further.

-Task killer, task manager and couple of other games/apps are installed

-All active tasks were 2killed" via task killer. :P

-The phone is unlocked.

suggestions are highly appreciated.

Same problem here. Totally standard phone which was given as a present so any advice appreciated.

Well I can answer my own post thankfully :(

As there were messages that had come in I was able to quickly swipe down the notification bar at the top and then select to view the messages (in between pressing 'force close' every time it popped up)

After reading the messages I was then able to press the home button and it went to the homescreen then sorted itself out.

So if your trying to sort the same problem out send yourself a text message if you havn't got one and go in via the messages ;)

My wife's phone, a Samsung GT-I5801, displays exactly the same message "The application Orange Homescreen (process com.orange.homescreen) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again". I've searched and this is the only forum that refers to this error. Unfortunately this solution does not solve the problem on her phone.

An earlier solution refers to Recovery mode. Does anyone know how to access Recovery on this phone. I've tried holding Volume Up (and Down) then Power - that gives me a normal start. Holding Vol Up & Home then Power displays "FORCED UPLOAD by KEY PRESSING" - whatever that means. Holding Vol Up & Home then Power displays "Downloading..... DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!!" - equally cryptic.

Can anyone help please? TIA

This solution does work after all. When I started the phone it already had 2 SMS text messages and having opened both of them the error message reappeared. However about an hour afterwards the phone received 2 new messages and after I had opened them the Orange home screen came back and the error message stopped. So as G0dspeed advises send your phone a text message to get rid of the homescreen error.
