Guest pd555 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 As title was thinking last night, do you ever think we will be able to boot Windows Phone 7 on the Desire? Do the experts think this would ever be possible or would the bootloader or something else prevent this? I guess the dream would be a dual booting phone, I don't want much honest :D :P

Guest moti_r Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 That sounds more of a nightmare to me. Just one question... Why? To experiment... :P
Guest woti17 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 To experiment... :P just one question ... experiment with what? ;-)
Guest pd555 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 To experiment... :P Spot on. That's what we all do here isn't it?
Guest Sleepydude Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 It wouldn't be legal to do so, WM7 is a proprietary OS, not open source(ish) like Android.
Guest khtse Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 (edited) I don't think this is the right place to find such rom. But I'm sure someone on xda-developers will try doing that, more likely to be on the Nexus One though. Edited October 23, 2010 by khtse

Guest DanWilson Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 someone could top it - wp7 with sense ;-) or better: wp7 with sense, but sense removed Makes sense. :P
Guest HearThatVoiceAgain Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 Makes sense. :P Yes its very zen, like a knife without a handle that has no blade.
Guest DanWilson Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 Yes its very zen, like a knife without a handle that has no blade. How sharp. :D :P
Guest trstn Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I don't see why we won't. XDA developers was set up around hacking windows mobile devises and producing custom ROMS wasn't it? And half the windows mobile 7 handsets are basically android handsets with the different OS (HTC iterations anyway). I'm not sure I'd like to move away from android but I'd love to try it out.
Guest rahulkadukar Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 I dont know if you guys are in loop, but WP7 has been ported successfully to HD2
Guest EddyOS Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Which is another Windows phone so would expect it to work WP7 on the Desire would technically be illegal as it's not open source so needs a license to be installed
Guest Salival Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 I don“t think so, its different hardware. maybe someone could port it but it would be very slow. Try HD2 :(
Guest trstn Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Someone already did it, apparently... http://www.phokia.com/view/96sobs3s8/htc-desire-wp7/
Guest bpivk Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Someone already did it, apparently...That's not a port of W7. That's a skin from another android launcher. Probably launcher pro or similar.
