If you can get to the boot recovery (and run fastboot commands) then I suggest you follow this guide

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/

Just see if STEP 1 works, if it does progress to STEP 2, then you can apply ROMS via the clockworkmod (STEP 3) - this is a much safer way to FLASH your device.

thanks for the tip/advice

however tried step 1, (root the device again) had already done this though before I got stuck with green android man

in the cmd box I get the message after typing fastboot-windows flash boot boot.blade.superboot.mcri.r3.img

all I get is the message: waiting for device, not sure whether this promising or not

any other suggestions

update, this tried to re-flash the phone by starting again, undid battery followed instructions etc

all appeared to go to plan, instructions on CMD box appeared to be in order and correct

however still stuck on green android man

please help me sort this out

hi guys,

i rooted my phone and i could see the superuser app. i then proceeded to next stage in the video about installing custom rom. I had not seen the note where it said for R4 onwards its the clockworkmode recovery procedure that we need to follow. so all i did was downloaded the R4 zip file, renamed it to mcri-system.tar.gz and copied it onto my sdcard root directory. i then switched on the phone as suggested in the video but now my phone is stuck on the green android man forever. the only way i can power it off is by taking the battery out. the phone is not getting detected when connected to the laptop via USB. when I took the sd card out and read it separately but putting it into a card reader, i saw that the tar.gz. now had a .flashed' extension.

that is the situation as it stands. i'm pretty nervous as to what is going to happen. please help me guys. i will really appreciate any suggestions coming my way. i'm really desparate about getting this sorted.

I took mine back to the shop today, they said to replace it... So tomorrow I will be receiving a brand new phone... I will not be trying to root it though from instructions from this website...

Hi,

Did you tell them that you tried to install custom rom and this is what happened? Does that not invalidate the warranty? If no body responds to this thread, I might also think about returning the phone and get a replacement.

come on guys somebody please help us... we are stuck and the phone has become completely useless now.

Paul and others,

please tell us what to do next. We followed the steps in the video and now can't get to start the phone.

update: when trying to run any fastboot-windows command, the output just sticks to <waiting for device>

and nothing happens

Have you tried to do a factory reset?

If I understand it correctly, even to do a factory reset, the phone needs to recognise the fastboot commands. In my case all i get for any command is 'waiting for device' and nothing happens. If there is any other way to factory reset, please do let me know.

I had it hooked up earlier and was playing about with it (reasoned I couldn't make it any worse!) It did respond to one adb command but I can't remember which one, but after that it went back to <waiting for device>... this is what happens when we dabble with the unknown...

When I went back to the shop I said that I had copied some files from a friends sd card and now it wouldn't load. No problems what so ever.

Is there a hardware factory reset? (ie. a button)

Hi same thing happened to me. Have you checked that the file you have downloaded Is not corrupted? Have you

Checked the MD5SUM

The only tool you need is a md5sum checker. MD5sum is a way of checking that the file you have downloaded has not been corrupted in any way, when you run the MD5sum command against a files the response is the files "fingerprint", if this differs from the expected MD5, then you need to re-download the file The MD5's mentioned are for the specific releases detailed here, and other distributions (or updates) to the files we MD5 will, generate different checksums.

Try also rebooting your (Windows?) PC just in case the Windows drivers have got confused.

Once the PC reboots follow the instructions to:

- Turn off the phone, take out the battery and SD card. Count to 30 and put the battery back (leave the SD card out for now)

- Hold down Vol+ key and then press and hold power button, at which point you should shortly get the Android man on screen

- Insert USB cable into phone and then PC.

- The Bootloader driver should now load on PC. Check in Device Manager that there are no yellow exclamation marks.

- Open a windows command window and cd to the directory where your fastboot (or fastboot-windows) executable lives

- Try running fastboot reboot. The phone should now go through a reboot cycle. If that happens you still have the ability to flash the phone (ggod!),

if not, you may well have bricked it (bad).

Another thought. If you are trying to flash the R4 Modaco Custom ROM onto your phone, you need to first flash it with ClockworkMod Recovery.

Be lucky!

just to update (as I started the the thread), apologising for not updating sooner

I am now happily up and running (and have been for some time)

anyway after being stuck on the green man for a few days, slowly cracking up trying to fix this

someone posted (on another forum) advising me to try this

when powering up press Volume up (as you do for clockwork etc) low and behold my phone that had been stuck on the green android man for several days booted in the clockwork mode

phew what a relief,

after this I selected to update via file on sd card, and they rest as they say is history

Hi all,

I wanted to update you on the happenings at my side. After a lot of fiddling about I realised that there is a prb with the device getting detected on my laptop. I re-installed all the drivers. It did not work straightwaway. I had to uninstall and re-install the drivers a couple of times. Mine is a windows 7 64bit machine. In the device manager, what I saw was that if the phone has been recognised, there is something called fastboot.... listed in the device manager.

when i saw that i was a bit hopeful. at that time when i ran the clockworkmod recovery followed by flashing the custom rom as described on the link below, it was all hunk dory. I am now flashed to R4 and it makes me feel so relieved.
