Guest RedSlug Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 I always plug my phone in before I go to sleep and leave it until morning Will this kill my battery?
Guest awarner Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 No should not be a problem as you are technically giving it a regular condition charge. Li-ion batteries require topping up rather than trying to discharge it unlike the old Ni-Cd, as that can damage the capacitance of the battery and drastically shorten it's life and efficiency. Li-ion batteries have a design life of around 500 charges but looking after them can make them last a lot longer.
Guest brokenpixel Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 Li-Ion & Li-Ion Polymer are safe to leave plugged in, these kind of batteries have a special circuit that will prevent from over/under charging, it is safe to leave it all night plugged in. Once the battery reaches 4.2v it will stop receiving charge. No matter how many times you plug that in just to make sure it's at 100% It WON'T charge anymore.

Just to reinforce this... if you have a charger that shows charging status you can actually see it stop charging once it hits 100%. No issue with doing this. I also have been doing this with another Android phone (plug it in when I go to bed and let is sit on the charger for 5-7 hours) for the last 2 years and its battery is still going strong.
