Guest chris54621 Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 I have seen lot of people complaining about the Orange San Francisco's Battery performance; There is no problem with battery at all. When i bought the phone the battery use to run out very quickly. Today i had my 3G and wifi switched of whole day turn it on occasinally to check email and browser and turn off immediately when not using. i am shocked to see the battery is still on 90%. so guys use 3G and wifi only when you need. and turn off when u dont. AND ENJOY LONGER BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGE

AND ENJOY LONGER BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGE I am with you on that. I can gain 3-4 hours extra when I'm turn Google+Twitter synchronization off occasionally. BTW, what about your battery life from the calibration app? I am currently using "battery left" to do this for me. I spent 3-4 days allowing the app to calibrate and estimate my battery life. It turns out to be literally 8:36 hours but practically I can easily have 12+ hours by turning off 3G/wifi and unnecessary widgets as mentioned earlier. Cheers,

Guest meinnit Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I'm not a fan of the Background Data setting as it seems to consume a lot of battery. Turning it off means you lose gmail sync

Guest nicksoph Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 This is probably a stupid question, with an easy answer, but how do I turn off 3G and wifi? Thanks from home screen Menu, Settings, wireless and networks, Uncheck WLAN - turns off Wireless Menu, Settings, wireless and networks, Mobile Networks, uncheck Data enabled - turns off 3g
Guest goatee Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 You can also get widgets to turn them off quickly and easily - for data, search for APNDroid, and for wi-fi, just search for wifi toggle. from home screen Menu, Settings, wireless and networks, Uncheck WLAN - turns off Wireless Menu, Settings, wireless and networks, Mobile Networks, uncheck Data enabled - turns off 3g
Guest JokerNJ Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 This is probably a stupid question, with an easy answer, but how do I turn off 3G and wifi? Thanks Easiest way is to use the power control widget. Hold a black space on screen, add widget, choose 'power control'. Lets you have one-touch access to toggle power for wifi, bluetooth, GPS, brightness and sync. I find switching wifi off when I leave home and setting twitter and facebook to updating every 30 minutes leaves plenty of juice.

Had wifi, bt, 3g/hsdpa, gps and sync all turned off since yesterday...screen off too, as not been using the phone, although it is still able to make and receive phone calls and texts.....it's been like that for over 24 hours now and battery has only dropped by 5% from 100 to 95.

Quite true... use it only as you would a telephone and it'll go for ages... "Exactly how long?" I've been wondering - but I can't keep my mits off it long enough to test it! It's all the funky stuff it does that hammers those 1250mAh's and I guess we've just gotta learn to accept that if you wanna do the good stuff we're gonna have to plug it in over night... That's a pretty fair trade off I reckon :)

Guest No Expert Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 I hope this might help someone else out there. I finally discovered the rogue app on my device which was killing the battery. It was the myLock app which allows you to unlock the phone by pressing any of the keys. The problem is that the device never goes to sleep therefore killing the battery in a few hours. I've confirmed this by looking at the usage statistics in SpareParts. I would avoid myLock for now.
Guest prufrock Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) Wow..still haven't charged the SF and it's 45% now - that's a week and counting on a single full charge. Here's a pic (it dropped to 41% in the time it took me to get a photo - about 5 minutes or so on full brightness) Edited November 8, 2010 by prufrock
