Guest paddyg Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 I need help here, I've managed to brick my HTC Desire and now, it hangs on startup. I can get into recovery mode and also fast boot and hboot. I have no goldcard and am using the 0.83 model of the SLCD, 2.1. What on earth do I do! Please help.

I'm sure there's a bricked thread on here but anyway, do you mean bricked when trying to root? Have you tried using Unrevoked as the root method? unrevoked.com if not, d/l and give it a go, works best for me in Linux (use a boot cd if you don't use it), Windows seem' to give issues sometimes (W7 for me did anyway). Note: Make sure you have the correct phone drivers BEFORE running unrevoked. There's instructions on the site but an alternative is to d/l htc sync, do a complete install then UNINSTALL SYNC ONLY, leaving the drivers on.
Guest miguelsanchez79 Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 download any rom that suit you, flash it via recovery and you are done :P

I'd rooted the phone but then it had stopped working since I'd installed a zip file for the psfree dom hack, I think it was something to do not having CFW on the phone and not having opendesire? I'm not sur, if I was I wouldn't have messed it up in the first place. download any rom that suit you, flash it via recovery and you are done :P And how would I go about doing that, which rom should I download for the 0.83 version in the 2.1 android version. also how would I go about flashing it? do I just save it on the SD card or????? Do i not need an Goldcard? Thanks for the responses! :D

Why did you root if you have v little idea of what it's for, why you would do it etc :P Head over to XDA Developers, go into the HTC Desire section and read the 'complete rooting guide', hell, here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=628 You don't need the gold card method anymore if you use unrevoked but if you have successfully rooted using the gold card then fine. That's it. Move on from the root, the issue is now the ROM. Why would you want the 2.1 version? 2.2 is the flavour of the month. Has been for a few :D ROMs arent't based on the HBOOT version so forget that. Like I said, read the thread FIRST and my own opinion for a ROM suggestion, just get one off here, r9 wip prebake so you can get help off the others on this forum. Hope you get it sorted.

But do I not have to restore the phone if its hanging on startup? @"r9 wip prebake so you can get help off the others on this forum." r9 wip prebake?
