Hi everyone , new to this forum,and what a great forum it is.

I should be recieving my zte tomorrow ,and was wondering ,do i register the phone with orange first, and then open to another network. I mean, if i dont will the block the imei number.

6.. clockwork

7.. pick a rom

I unlocked first never used the Orange sim all worked ok.

Me too, no need to register anything with Orange :P

No need ...

But if you have £10 credit with orange and want to use it up... then it kinda helps :P

There are reports that the froyo rom removes simlock so no need to buy a code.

Any reports as to whether or not the lock is removed permanently or returns if you go back to 2.1?

No, the phone will not work on Orange until you register the SIM that came with it. I am on T-Mobile and roaming to Orange failed until I registered.

My orange sim card has never been near my phone and it works with other orange sims :S

That is two different things surely? I can't see why it wouldn't let you roam from T Mobile to Orange because you didn't register the SIM with Orange. I never registered my SIM with the phone- it has never been in yet mine works on T-Mobile and on Orange.
