Guest suns Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I'm posting a new thread as I suspect that the issues I'm having are all interlinked. Good news - bought the SF, changed the contents, removed the orange gubbins and have put my PAYG asda mobile sim in. So, can make calls, can send text messages. Not working: The android market place is incredibly haphazard. I have managed to download some apps, but currently two are hanging and have been for a very long time. Have removed cache, restarted, removed battery etc. but still no joy. Not working: The wifi is doing my head in. I have read the wifi thread thoroughly. My problem seems to be specific in that I am using a BT HomeHub2 and although I can see the network it hangs on 'obtaining IP address from BTHomeHub2-XXXX'. I can still connect via bt openzone or bt fon, but this means that I then need to go on to the internet and type in my password. I also think that because I am not on my home network directly this could potentially be causing the issues with the marketplace as maybe BT openzone doesn't like me downloading??? Almost working: I have managed some settings for my asda sim by reading the thread, but I'm sure I've not got all the settings. I know there's a very comprehensive app that allows you to select all the correct settings... but cannot get to it... as the market refuses to work! So, can anyone help. I'm having immense fun with this phone, but I've spent the best part of two days reading threads but I'm feeling stuck now! Suns
Guest feckineejit Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Think the market is having problems today again just like yesterday as mentioned in here, because i was able to download earlier today but can't now.
Guest robot1000 Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I managed to download a couple of apps and now I've got 'download unsucessful' Can some confirm whether it's the market is down or whether it's an issue with my phone?
Guest tambourine_man Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I have also had problems with the market since yesterday. I just put R4 on so was concerned it could be related, but I think it is just the market.
Guest popoyaya Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Google need to sort their approach to the market out, this is a joke. There must be millions of android owners thinking their phones are broken. They need to put a notice up on the market screen indicating that there are currently problems.
Guest suns Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 it's daft isn't it - I keep thinking it's something I'm doing - then all of a sudden it will work for all of 2 minutes which gets me trying to second guess exactly what I was doing etc. etc. Silly. Anyway - any advice on my wifi issues with BTHomeHub2 anyone?

This is a fantastic idea, even something simple like an icon that changes depending on the market status, like uTorrent's indicator perhaps.

The market is very poor imho: Take a look at Google - the providers of the greatest search engine this planet has ever seen - why are the search and sort options so poor in the market app? Why doesn't it remember everything I have ever downloaded and offer batch installation on a new system? Why cant I filter results in alphabetical order? Why cant I sort by rating? Why cant I group search results into games / apps? etc etc... Just seems really shoddy, considering the resources Google have and how fast everything else is moving. </rant>
