Guest banterbay Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Please is anybody having or know better email app for the Streak as the stock email keep making all mails unread all the time after reading them. I am tired of this. I have used ShangMail for a week or 2. It is very good but somebody logged into my gmail from China then I changed my password and uninstall it. Do you have idea of any better email app out there?
Guest Flavio Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I use K9 Mail. It is not perfect but I haven't found anything better yet. The most annoying thing about is that I have reconfigure all acounts (I have 11) after a ROM upgrade or factory reset. Also it is not very fast in polling mailboxes.
Guest Dogmann55 Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Hi all, Well I've been using Seven for years now and it offers true Push E-Mail and supports most of the popular providers and is easy to set up the only cost is a single SMS message to the Ilse of Man and the latest version for Froyo is the best so far it offers a Home screen Widget and full folder support as well the ability to sync your contacts i know some haven't liked it but for me its the best i have found or used. Marc
Guest Wee Thomas Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 K9 mail and Maildroid are the best alternatives I've found. I currently use K9 but I'm waiting for one of them to implement better access to hotmail so I can commit.
Guest banterbay Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Thanks Flavio, Dogmann55 and Wee Thomas for all your suggestions
Guest popetodd Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 I am quite happy with the stock Gmail app EXCEPT... It's add attachment function sucks eggs. Does anyone know which one will allow for random file attachment? I do IT consulting and frequently am asked for my CV while I am out and about. The stock client only allows media attachments like PDF and image, that means I can't rework the cover sheet and modify the CV on the fly for the contract. BIG hassle that is.

I was able to attach an arbitrary word doc by choosing it using ASTRO. When I click 'attach' it offers Gallery or ASTRO as options; choose ASTRO, and you can attach anything, it seems. Gallery, admittedly, would limit you to fewer choices. My phone reports the Gmail version as 2.3, if that helps. ASTRO is a great file manager application, on top of this. It has tons of features, plugins to connect to remote SMB(Windows network file shares), built in SFTP support. Multi-file copy/paste, tools to back up and restore (most) installed .apks... the only thing I wish it did was support remounting the read only parts of the system as read-write, on rooted devices.
Guest popetodd Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Excellent! Thanks, my other file manager didn't register itself like that.
Guest zigzagindex Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 ES File Explore works too for defaulf gmail, android 1.6

Marc +1 For Seven, you have to sign up for the 'beta program' but I have used it on WM in the past and have found it to be 10x better on Android. Plus e-mail with full images is great. It is almost like you are reading on a desktop PC. They develop software ( Xpress Mail) for the big guys like ATT but offer free software through beta. Some of the best functioning beta software I have used, that is for sure. http://www.seven.com/
