Guest promotersinc Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Hey everyone. I bought my Dell Streak from an Optus store and was under the impression that it couldn't work with Next G. Low and behold I put a Next G sim card in and works a treat. FULL 3G and speed. How is this possible ?
Guest springah Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 full 3G maybe, but NEXTG speeds shouldnt be working.. but you never know!
Guest flamingsamurai Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Should work NEXTG, its on 850mhz
Guest mooves Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Telstra devices = 850 / 2100Mhz UMTS Optus / Vodafone = 900 / 2100Mhz UMTS What this means that if you're are in the 2100Mhz area (generally cities and surrounding areas) you will get 3G / H download speeds regardless of phone and carrier. Once you get away from these major areas generally 850Mhz (for Telstra) is used and you will only get GPRS download speeds if you don't have an 850Mhz radio. Same is true if using a Telstra phone on Optus / Vodafone in regional areas. Dell Streak is 900/2100. Found this out the hard way in Kalgoorlie.... needed 3G speeds but my HD2 on Vodafone would only connect at GPRS speeds.... ie. slooooooooooww. Had to chuck in in prepaid Telstra wireless broadband sim card then was all good. Hope this helps. Hey everyone.
