what you discribe here, thats what you do _after_ you have already s-off

for s-off read carefully

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794314

and then go to

http://alpharev.nl/

follow the steps discribed there

before you can flash a recovery you need to patch the bootloader so that "s-off" is set (actually it is more of a fake by the patched HBOOT)

What you need to do is explained ..

here : http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...htc-desire-gsm/

and here : http://alpharev.nl/

and you need this : http://alpharev.nl/alpharev.iso

With this iso it is absolutely painless ... just run the ISO (burned to a CD of course ;-) and follow the on-screen-instructions. Basically you just need to watch it do its work.

After this is done you can flash a permanent recovery in fastboot-mode.

Marcus

btw: forum search or even Google would have helped : http://lmgtfy.com/?q=htc+desire+s-off

Not sure if you now realise this, but once you s-off you don't need unrevoked any more. That's one of the benefits of s-off.

howdy all

i ran the iso and now have the alpharev (joker) splash screen, does that mean i have s-off? i mean, is running the disk all i need to do? it took all of 3 mins.

what can i do to test it?

also,

what now? anything cool we can do now?

Go into recovery (or fastboot or whatever that first screen is) and check if it says s-off.

Yes - if you have the joker splash screen you have S-OFF.

One cool thing you can then do is to change the initial splash screen to anything you want. See here:
