Guest retral Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Heya guys :P Got my unlock code from www.unlocks.co.uk (used the link provided in the pinned SIM Unlock thread by Paul). So I received my code, and it tells me to boot up the phone with my alternative SIM inside, then enter my unlock code when prompted to do so. However, I got taken directly to the home page on the phone, but had no network (obviously because it's locked to Orange). So I tried another option which was given.. I booted the phone without a SIM card inside, and it still got to the home page. I was told by unlocks.co.uk to enter some numbers in the dialler which would apparently activate the network key prompt. Tried both numbers. Nothing. Nada. Don't know what to do here. Anybody able to shed some light?
Guest Stuart_f Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 If I remove the sim card from mine it says "No SIM card." in the top right corner and shows a picture of a sim card with a ! over it in the status bar. Is that what yours does?

Guest Stuart_f Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 It is indeed :P And if you put the non-orange sim in it what does it say in -> About Phone -> Status -> My Phone Number

Guest Stuart_f Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 (edited) I would suggest your non-orange sim is dead. Does it work in another phone? Edited October 26, 2010 by Stuart_f
Guest retral Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 I would suggest your non-orange sim is dead. Does it work in another phone? Yes, it works fine in my Samsung G600 and has done since I got it in August.
Guest retral Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 You might have the same issue I did. I put the SIM in the wrong way round. Look in the manual and it says how to put it in. It's like the opposite way round to most phones :D Sorted now :P
Guest Stuart_f Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 (edited) I'm fresh out of ideas. Someone cleverer than me will be along shortly.... Edit: Oh, I didn't consider that option! Glad you got it fixed. Strange that it doesn't say No Sim if you have it in backwards... Edited October 26, 2010 by Stuart_f
Guest Lew247 Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 I had the same thing tonight with a Giffgaff sim The only way I could resolve it was to put a Vodafone sim in the phone, turned it on and instantly the panel to put the unlock code came up I tried all other methods before that, but it was the only way. I suggest you see if you can borrow a diffferent sim card (different network) to use while you unlock it.
