E: Cant' mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1

After trying to flash the R4 Custom ROM a couple of times, i now get an error when trying to 'choose the zip from sdcard' option, in ClockworkMod Recovery.

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)

(Invalid argument)

E:Can't mount /sdcard

Have tried formatting the SD card a few times but end up with the same result.

Anyone have any clues as to what is wrong, or have a solution

Thanks

Hmmm ... having very similar problems. I managed to install r4 on my wife's phone but it bombed when I repeated the procedure on my son's SF.

In a way, I'm pleased someone else is experiencing problems too. Perhaps the issue will be taken seriously.

Seems to be a problem of the SD card. Have you tried it with another one? It could also be that it isn't properly formatted, but as you already tried this it doesn't seem to be the problem. One other possibility is - if you have more than one partition on your SD card - that the one its trying to mount has the wrong filesystem. In the topic title you mentioned mmcblk0p1, so if you now formatted the card using your PC it could be that your PC swapped over the FAT and EXT partitions, meaning that p1 is now EXT and p0 FAT, although it should be the other way round. If you have more than one partition on it, try to remove it and format the whole card in FAT32. You could also try to reflash the recovery image.

Having re-formatted the uSD card that came with the SF on several occasions and not having been interested in partitionning it, I decided to nick the uSD card from my LG GT540.

I formatted it as FAT and copied MoDaCo r4 to it, stuck it in the SF, started up ClockworkMod, did a factory reset thingy (no error messages this time) so asked it to update from the SDcard.

Five minutes later I had a working SF. Its only taken 10hours, 10hours I'll never see again.

Damn those people in ZTE land and their penny pinching and a big thank-you to BigBearMDC.

Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one :P
