Pretty much my internal 2gb microSD card has died on me and i need everything off of it to relpace it with a new microSD card. i have a spare 8gb microSD and it would be a great help if somebody could get me these files and then help me partition the 8gb card correctly to work with the streak. ANY help is greatly appreciated because i dont have the money to buy a new Streak

yeah i read through that but i would still need all the original files from the stock 2gb card and mine is dead and doesnt show up in windows or linux. windows asks me to format (obviously not helpful when i need the files lol) and ubuntu doesnt even recognize its there. i dont want to do it just for the extra space its just that the only extra card i have is an 8gb.

Also pretty important that you specify which OS, build, etc, you were running.

Odds are you can put the new SD card in place, put the appropriate update.pkg from your carrier on the 'external' sdcard, boot into recovery, and flash it. Should restore everything.

If not, you may need to format the thing appropriately; that may be tricky.

just run an update pkg the device will auto partition card etc but it WILL NOT work properly with an 8gb card without major hacks to boot.img

My friend sent his streak in to replace his broken LCD. WHen he got it back, I discovered the internal SD card was missing! Stock 1.6 seemed to run fine with it, but when the screen is turned off and turned back on, the digitizer wouldn't work anymore. I suppose it has something to do with swap. I couldn't flash any other firmware on either, it'd just get stuck at the dell logo.

So .. I stuck in a spare 2GB micro SD card that had a FAT32 partition on it. I then flashed the O2 2.1 firmware on... it still didn't work right. I then did a factory reset and that fixed it. I guess the factory reset must have recreated all the appropriate ext3 partitions.

By internal card YOU mean the one by the battery, right? That's the external card. The real internal sdcard requires taking the phone apart to access, and the phone won't boot at all without one. Certainly not past the non-animated white Dell logo.

The boot.img for Android has an issue with internal storage over 2gb that causes it to report there isn't enough free space to install write files. If you read through that hardware hacking thread linked here, they do solve it, but it requires editing that boot.img file, and it's a binary file.

No, I mean the one inside the phone, which requires taking the phone apart. The phone *does* boot without it on 1.6 build 4399 and 2.1 build 6941, but the touchscreen stops responding after a short while. It will not boot on any other 2.1 or 2.2 ROM.

you cannot just replace the original card with the new one, you have to adapt your android version to accept card bigger than 2GB.

I'm guessing that you don't need data backup from someone else, because it's containing data from the apps installed in HIS streak, not yours.

You should try just to follow the tuto in page 5 from the thread "hacking this puppy" you posted earlier on, I'm quite sure it will work !

There is no need of data, just put your µSD with the good partitions, as I already told you on the other thread, and put it back to replace your first one

But now the question would rather be, can you have remote access to your device without a working standard sd card ? because you need to push the new boot.img on it, and then add the 2 scripts in /system/bin...

If that is not working, I would agree to give you my original internal card, as I don't have any use of it anymore....

The only pb is that I'm living in France, It would cost less to you to buy a new 2GB card, that could be recognize by the stock system !

good luck

A few post back I've been reading that Dell's factory restore repartitions the internal SD! So if I put a bigger (faster one) Will this method repartition the new one? I mean the first 2GB of it! I don't want bigger storage! Just faster one!

Nope, won't work with bigger µSD, because it will not be automatically detected by the system...

so you have to change the boot.img... and install the scripts !

I'm using a class 2 32GB internal, and I haven't seen any slowdown... so my guess is that you can put virtually any 2GB in it and it would work with a hard reset !

i really appreciate the offer bro but im in the states, just joined the navy too and will be leaving for basic next month. i can fix my PC and car if i had the money lol. like they say though bad things come in threes.

so youre saying if i just get a spare 2gb i can just reflash recovery and rom and it will work as normal since it writes the partitions itself? i read through that thread multiple times and im at a loss its too much information without a specific walkthrough you know? im not completely technology illiterate and i can probably figure it out but its all a bit overwhelming. and what do you mean by remote access. it wont boot because there is no OS on it currently if thats what you mean

Thanks to EVERYONE who has replied to my post. im still trying to understand most of it lol but it is appreciated none the less.

that tutorial requires me to beable to get to the app store. my streak wont boot because i cant flash a rom to it

and the stock recovery is telling me i need to insert an SD card containing an update file... which i have so i cant even attempt to flash a rom. unless somebody has a nandroid backup i can use the boot.img, system.img files in fastboot and maybe that will work?

i found a boot.img and system.img file and i have booted into 2.1 not sure which build lol. im getting somewhere here...

Update 2 - stuck after flashy dell logo after flashing 2.2... not quite sure whats up now.

Update 3 - Factory reset fixed the problem. Thank you to everyone who helped and gave advice Im up and running. not sure what the deal was with the internal SD i guess it got a second wind
