after having the phone for 2 weeks , decided to get rid of the orange cr*p.

read every page of this thread used and followed it using

universal androot

busybox

titanium backup free

astro file manager

did have to do a couple things twice

i.e "your phone is already rooted"

all went well have got rid of the stuff listed on the first page and then re rooted so superuser not on display.

Q1. should i now remove univeral androot , busybox and titanium backup. knowing i can download them again if needed?

Q2. anybody's views on anti-virus , malware programs ,recommedations.

Thanks again

Download and install androot

Download and install superuser from the market

Download and install titanium backup from the market

Run androot and press go root

Run superuser; this said a new versoin of superuser was available and need to be installed; I did this

Run titanium backup; pressed the Problem button so it could download busybox

This is how I did it when I was on the 2.1 stock ROM

i followed the exact same steps

Androot wont root my device, even when it says it has (brand new blade)

any alternatives?

Try this maybe??

http://orangesanfrancisco.co.uk/android/ho...isco-zte-blade/

Im on my second Blade, got my white one the other day... it worked on that, so it wont be the update change.

Maybe restart phone and try again...

how did you get the browser back, because i deleted mine and i cant get it back. i dont have a custom rom

Hey,

Right I got rid of..

-Orange Maps (As i use google maps)

-TouchPal (As i only use the android keyboard and hated the touchpal one!)

-TouchPal Spanish and French(?) Packs as i dont speak spanish or french and got rid of the touchpal.

-Who Wants to be a millionaire Demo and the other game demo! (As they were rubbish)

-Youre Orange (As mine didnt work from begining)

-Orange Wednesdays, as i have a movies app and it just texts the 241 number anyway.

-Orange Backup (as i backup my phone numbers with Google Sync so dont need the orange one!)

-Orange Photos (not to be confused with Gallery!)

-Orange Email (as I use the gmail app only)

-Orange App Shop (As it is overpriced, rubbish and in no way attached to the Android Market!)

DO NOT DELETE THE BROWSER!!!!!! I did by mistake, own fault I clicked on it and pressed yes, thinking I could easily get the original one! But I have it back now! (thankfully!)

Also...

If anyone deletes any system apps they want to get back or delete by accident. Then you can get them back easily...

Download the stock ROM from this site.

Theres a folder in there with all the stock apps. This is a great way to get all original apps back...

ALSO just so people know, there is now a really easy way of putting a new ROM on the ZTE Blade, and my recomendation is the Swedish Spring ROM if you choose to.

thanks, but how do i get that on the phone ? haha

sorry it must be annoying as i'm total noob.

To install it from SD? Just use a file manager and open it,astro or file expert will work, there on the market.

You download Universal Androot.

You plug your SD Card or phone in to the computer.

You copy the Universal Androot file to the phones SD Card.

Use ASTRO File Manager or the Filer on the phone to open Universal Androot and click on it and install it.

Yep.. there's a file that requires editing, here's what I posted a while ago

Hi DaveyP, Re the /data/system/packages.xml you edited to clean up the manage apps list what app did you use to find and edit it?

I installed and used:

Android Root

Busy Box

Titanium

The unwanted apps are uninstalled but remnants remain in manage apps and in task manager.

I don't see an option in Titanium to browse and edit files, the file doesn't exist on the SD card and there is no data folder visible under system when I use 'Filer'. Any help/info appreciated.

The "data" folder isn't found in system, use es file manager, root explorer or file expert to find it
