Guest Tiit_Helimut Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Hi. I've had the phone about 2 weeks now and as soon as I got it, I flashed it with Paul's R3 ROM, which I was impressed with. I unlocked via a seller on eBay (the 99p one) and everything went swimmingly until a few days later when I couldn't get signal with the O2 sim I put in there after I unlocked. It seemed odd as I never seem to be without coverage with O2, so I put my old Orange sim in (the one that came with the phone) and got the same thing...apparently the phone can't connect to any network. When I manually go into the settings for networks and let it scan for all the networks, it brings up a wide list of networks but when I try to choose one and connect to that network, it gives a message along the lines of "unable to register this sim on the network", which is understandable if I was trying to connect to a different network than the sim was supplied by. With my orange sim however, it just tells me that the network is busy (I've tried for several days and it still gives the same message). I was wondering if anyone else had this problem as I don't want to return the phone if I can fix it myself! I've had a search through the forums and I can't see that anyone has had this particular problem, so I'm beginning to think it's hardware related? EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention that wiping all data and flashing, even with original ROM, does not work and the problem remains! Hope someone out there might be able to suggest something! Thanks for your time! Edited October 27, 2010 by Tiit_Helimut
Guest Tiit_Helimut Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Never mind! I shall return it as soon as possible!
Guest tippo88 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Have you tried setting it to connect to 2G networks only? For some reason mine will only connect to a network if I select this. Haven't had any luck in finding out why though.

Yeah, I read your topic and tried the same thing but unfortunately it makes no difference :P The only thing I can think of is that the antenna has shorted itself out so it looks like it's gonna have to be a return!
Guest schkinx Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 bought mine a few hours ago and its losing the network within minutes of connecting ( on orange payg ) back to the shop tomorrow then :)
