Superuser app question

Whats the point of superuser, i have it on my phone but it doesn't seem to do anything, when i click on the icon and open it, the apps section just says "no apps in list" (not sure how to put apps on the list or if it is ment to be blank). in the log section it says "No log information" so thats blank also, the only thing i can do there is click menu and have the option to clear logs. then the settings section has the settings but nothing that explains what to do. Is this the way it is ment to be, if so whats the point of it. I believe it gives root access or something like that but shouldn't the first 2 sections have some information on them.

Whenever you run a program that wants super user access you get a box on screen asking if you permit super user access, if you say yes the app appears on the superuser app screen and you aren't asked again. Once on the list you can remove/change the behaviour etc.

Eg if you go into terminal and type "su" a box will appear, if you say yes, then the next time you go into the superuser app, terminal will appear there.
