Guest paddyg Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Is there anywhere with a good tutorial on how to use psfmod, or even to be able to hack your ps3?
Guest Asselberghs Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 If the issue is installing I´d say use unrevoked to install the image:) http://unrevoked.com/
Guest spammyspam Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 I used alpharev/s-off to flash any new recovery now.
Guest Asselberghs Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Anyone tried it?/risked it? I am a bit too afraid of being banned by sony to test it out.
Guest 325i Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Does it work on ps3 with 3.5 firmware?
Guest StuMcBill Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Does it work on ps3 with 3.5 firmware? No, only works on 3.41.
Guest Elbereth Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 (edited) Works but it is not 100% (some games never loads or freeze). Still quite unstable (imho). I always used Alpharev Fastboot to flash the psfmod recovery image: fastboot flash recovery psfmod.img I use it on the PS3 with Gaia Manager (last time I tried it was v1.03). Once psfmod is flashed it is very easy to hack the PS3: Boot in recovery mode on the Desire Select Psfmod menu entry (at the end) And follow indications on your phone, it is straightforward Honestly I don't think it is really worth the hassle. The PS3 has only a handful of good games and I already own them. If you cannot afford the high prices of new games just wait for platinum or classics releases, at half the price (sometimes even quarter) that's honest. Edited October 29, 2010 by Elbereth
Guest paddyg Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 I always used Alpharev Fastboot to flash the psfmod recovery image: fastboot flash recovery psfmod.img This is what I trriiieed to do, but whenever I do it on my computer it says recovery failed, although I'm using it with Unrevoked. I also assume I'm S-Off if my HTC is rooted and opendesire 4.0.4?
Guest spammyspam Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 Bad assumption. You're only S-Off if you've used AlphaRev. In theory you should be able to flash psfmod (or any other recovery) with Unrevoked (and not flashboot), but personally I'd rather use AlphaRev and flashboot.

Hacking your PS3 for the simple reason of pirating games is a terrible thing. Developers work hard to make those games and they deserve to get paid for their hard work.
Guest StuMcBill Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I am keeping my PS3 on 3.41, but I have absolutely no interest in running Backup Games, I am only interested in Homebrew and Emulation possibilities. I have seen a WIP of a Dreamcast Emulator which looks GREAT!!!!
